You make sacrifices for portability, you can't just take a desktop and shrink it to a handheld without trade offs. Power consumption needs cooling and a power supply, cooling needs space to vent which increases the size, increases the size of the battery, etc.
If you want a monster PC that is portable buy a gaming laptop.
100% Sure that after user reviews of steam deck this is exactly what we have.
if you all fixed / improved the hardware you have as much as you try to defend it, steam deck would be worth the money, i seen a huge list of people who couldn't even use steam deck after a required update needing a internet connection, a tether from a cell phone fixed 1 users steam deck issue. that forum post was on dec 2022
so yeah lets roll on the floor laughing about how people got stuck buying steam decks that don't work right, get Returned for repairs authorized by steam because they know they are selling junk to unsuspecting users.
Just for once id love to see steam partake in some good business practices , start by never stopping development of hardware you want to sell people, always keep improving on it, and don't make excuses about going broke, steam decks a limited user base keep that in mind, steam is a limited user base which is why you need custom order steam decks
Feel free to do your own research. every reputable seller, tens of thousands of reviews from 3rd party sites, etc show there are no issues. Sadly you just seem to not know anything about technology and expect them to shrink a PC into a handheld which isn't possible.
If you want to believe that every review and every site is nothing but valve lying feel free. Meanwhile the million+ people that have bought steam decks will keep enjoying them while you keep waiting for a laptop that will fit in your hands.
Niece uses my steam deck all day, it never gets hot or overheats.
You're just raging since broke and a joke.
Maybe worry about upgrading your current hardware, take all the supposed money you have and replace that slow and ancient RX 570. Gods knows what your CPU and memory are, let alone storage media if still using that yet complaining about how "Expensive" a Steam Deck is when it's dirt cheap.
the real question is if its half as bad as user reviews in steam deck forum says, those people buying a steam deck for 300 will be as disappointed as the ones who paid full price.
oh which BTW the low end steam deck 64 gig can't really install 1 top of the line game. so the fact thats broken from the day you get the thing, (not enough storage space) is a big disappointment for any gamer.
you know the more and more i research steam deck the less and less it seems like a smart thing to invest in, so many improvements need made.
*update*
Rx 570 is a VR ready Graphics card with 8 gigs of dedicated VR, it runs pretty good for almost all the games i have tried on it, the best part is i paid around 220 dollars for mine in 2018, my processor is a I7-5000 it was part of its own barebone refrubished system that i picked up a copy of windows 10 with at basicly the cost of windows 10, getting the whole refrubished pc for free.
my cpu cooler is mounted to the mother board with zip ties because i wasn't about to spend 50 or 100 dollars on a special heat sink mount just to hold my cpu heat sink in place, reality is the thermal paste keeps it in place and the zip ties are neon and actually glow from the LED lights i installed, the mother board was replaced because the refurbished system was a low wattage HP with a weird powersupple connection, i upgraded my power supply to a 800 watt.
i also didn't have wifi so i picked up a 2 dollar wifi card from a thift store its wireless N, also my routher is a wireless N / 5g gaming router that i got on clearance for 50 dollars , orginally priced at 200.
the orginal HD shipped was complete garbage and was replaced with cheap SSD drives for around 60 dollars , also bought on sale. the Memory is from older pc's that some came from the refurbish others i had just laying around.
here is my system specs.
i7 3.4ghz processor 4 core (zip tied heat sink, Yes it works) (was cheap , cause im thrifty)
16 gigs ram DDR 3 (deffinatly need to upgrade this but need 8 or 16 gig chips do it )
8 gigs Vram Rx 570 VR compatiable (better then those expensive ones with only 4 or 6 gigs)
Acer AH 101 VR head set hardly ever use it cause VR games are over priced
Recycled Case cause those are just laying around
Xbox 360 Kenetic Camera that has the 3d Modeling
50 inch Plasma TV from the 2005 generation , that still works because they aren't garbage manufactured like todays flat screens.
all in all these low end specs blow the Steam deck away with its shared 16 gig ram /Vram combo
its 7 inch screen, and heck a zip tie would hold the heatsink on better then the tiny dab of therma paste they use.
i feel confidant my system can handle any game i throw at it my system cost under 1000, what about yours?
maybe you can build a steam deck that works as good as this?
haha you sound jealous , sorry!
Yeah my friend has one and i tried it out and was really surprised just how comfy it is and its already a pretty hefty size. They did a REALLY good job designing it with its balance as it doesn't feel like its the actual size

This pic is hilarious with it next to the type of graphics card the OP wants in it. Would increase the size of the deck 5x+ times over.
There is this thing called memory cards, you plug them in to store games... So once again you don't really seem to be familiar with the device at all or what its for...
I want the world to be where I set the price .
Valve should drop the SteamDeck MAX to 50 US freedom bucks.
I would also like Lexus to build a new LFA supercar but Im only wanting to pay like 100 bucks on that so if they dont get on that then they lost me as a customer.
Oh and sennheiser too. Fkin HD 650 insanely overpriced. Id rather have that thing for free.
If all my demands arent met, Im firing some arrows into their HQ
So before you were bragging how you have excess money, yet that is your gaming PC. Embarrassing really.

Yep, totally jealous of a trash PC that can't run any games well that's released in the past 5 years or more.
His PC is very similar to mine, I stopped upgrading with the GTX 970, because there has not been any incentive to do so. It plays recent titles just fine, at 1440x900.
His performance is likely on par with the Steam Deck.
