Steam client constantly writing to lsass.exe causing memory leak
I noticed yesterday my games were stuttering and when I went to check task manager I saw that "Local Security Authority Process" was at almost 500mb when it should be at around 10. resource monitor shows it is constantly being written to when steam is open. I am on windows 11 with all new hardware, 13900k, asus z790, 4080.

yes I can get the memory to go down by restarting windows but I can't figure out how to stop steam from doing this. I seem to be the only person having this problem. I should mention I have all the latest windows updates and nvidia drivers.

Being the only one having a problem means you should scrutinize what exactly is running that is the difference between yourself and other users.

500mb is nothing, depending on the game certain processes can climb from nothing to several GBs.

I have closed everything else down on the computer to narrow down that it was steam causing the issue. From what I understand 500mb is alot for lsass.exe windows process and nothing else causes it to climb in size forever like that. I think this started with a recent windows update that was forced onto my computer and I cant find anything on the internet about it. Maybe its possible its a certain game I have installed, no idea.

After messing with windows and steam all day I still can't figure out what is causing it. I do not think it is causing any stuttering in the games like I previously thought. All I know is having the steam client open in anyway causes lsass.exe to constantly have disk activity (mostly write) to weird Log areas that I cant see and the memory size increases at a slow rate. It also looks like my free space is slow going down on my drive but that could just be windows, I already scanned for malware even though theres not much on the computer, If there is anywhere better to post this kind of problem that would be helpful also.
