Steam on PC Crashes When Launching Steam Deck
Is this a feature or a bug?

When I have a game Paused on my Desktop PC and I go to the bathroom with my Deck and play a game, I come back and Steam on my PC closed and the Paused game is gone.

Am I not allowed to play 2 games at once? Lol.

(I know I play too many video games.)

It's not crashing. It's closing. This is by design. It's to prevent you from profiting by sharing your account with other people.

If you want to play two games at once, you need to put one of the systems into offline mode first.

I understand that but they sold me a $600 handheld device. Should that not give me a +1 to my "simultaneous sessions"? Lol. I'll get over this.

No. The Deck is just another PC and you can't play Steam games on 2 PCs simultaneously.

I'm sorry, but no. Steam Deck is a mobile gaming solution, and Valve should build the CX around that. If you have Steam on your PC, and Steam Deck on your account, Steam should allow you to hop back and forth without FORCE CLOSING your games. Imagine if every time you used your iPad, your iPhone shut down. Of course that doesn't happen, because Apple is customer focused and understands how devices form an ecosystem. If Valve is so worried about some weird edge-case with people connecting a Deck to their Steam account, and then handing it off to their friends, then they can implement a check if both are on the same wi-fi network. It isn't rocket science to find a better solution, and this is actually unacceptable.

then why I can play on VR, laptop and pc at the same time? Steam just preventing playing same game title at the same time. if game is different it is fine

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
