Steam Achievement Manager
Do people still using this software on 2023? it trustworthy?

I can play any game can up 20 hours.
引用自 BJWyler:
Anyway, let's recap now that the OP has marked the answer he was looking for. Grateful to be able to provide the factual information to question at hand. So yes, people are still using Steam Achievement Manager (SAM) on a regular basis with no issues or consequences. I, myself, have been researching the program for about a year now, after it was brought to my attention. As a part of this information, we should also review some things we know about achievements in general:

1) Valve has set up a relatively simple and plain system of achievements for games, and allows devs the freedom to add (or not add) achievements to their games.

2) Valve also has in place a system so that devs can make their achievements server based, but it is a feature that sees little to no use in the games I have played and are contained in my library. Again, this is something Valve leaves in the hands of the devs.

3) As such, achievements can be "manipulated" in several ways, in addition to SAM:
-Have a friend or family member help or complete the achievement for you.
-Edit the game files.
-Use someone else's game save file.
-Use a dev console or cheat codes.
-Take advantage of in game mechanics or features to bypass the "normal" route.
-Exploit bugs.
-Mods - either external or from the Steam Workshop
-Steam User Console

That last option is of particular interest as Valve has built into Steam itself a way to trigger or reset achievements, therefore, making it a viable method without consequence.

Also to note in an interview with a Valve employee, the Astats achievement hunting group has provided information that the use of these methods (including SAM) cannot reliably be detected and Valve has no plans on changing the achievement system, therefore relying on game developers to make the choice to use (or not use) the feature, including the option of server side achievements. Therefore, and again considering that Valve included with the Steam Console the ability to manipulate achievements, Valve does not care and will do nothing against anyone who uses any method to manipulate them as they see fit.

As part of my research into SAM, I installed it on a test system with a test Steam Account. As part of my experimentation, I connected to VAC and EAC secured servers with this test system and using my test accounts. The results from my tests, along with the statements of others, including the Valve employee, have brought me to the conclusion that VAC and EAC is not triggered by SAM, and that the program is safe to have installed while playing on secured servers.

As a result of my research and testing, I can conclude that SAM is safe to use, and now therefore will begin using the program myself to complete many achievements that are broken and will not be fixed by devs for several of my games. I have also had a couple of friends also thank me for the information about SAM I have provided them and have told me they will also begin using the program as well. I have asked them to post their results in this thread as well, if desired.

Edit: Thank you for the free Steam Points too! Much appreciated.

Yes people still use it. I have never heard of anyone getting banned from Steam for it, but that doesn't mean that can't change.

In short like any 3rd party program it is use at your own risk.

The only people who trust SAM is yourself and others who are willing to get broken achievements and dead multiplayer achievements.

Yes, people still use SAM on a regular basis, for various reasons. I haven't myself at this point, but find it could be a useful utility for completing broken achievements that devs have no plans to fix, and to reset achievements so you can complete them again.

Despite what some people will tell you, the program is safe to use (be sure to download from a trusted source, like github), and its use cannot be detected by Steam as it operates its API call exactly like any game would do.

Id think it would ruin the experience steam has to offer. like, achievements dont really matter in the end. however it might make games seem boring if you just hack them all.

Before you said it may get you banned. Now you said it won't.

It's good that you didn't walk away from that thread empty handed.

Having the achievements doesn't change the game...

It just gives you the achievements.
