Steam Replay not accurately displaying the real number of new games.
My Steam Replay tells me I only got 28 new games this year but I know for a fact I've added over 100 from Humble Bundle keys alone.
Looks to me that it's only counting the games we buy directly from Steam.
Is this the case? Kinda strange that Steam would make that distinction.

Is it? After all, reviews made from activated keys don't count for the review average either.

That said, it might be possible that the "new games" part is related to the played games. So of the games you played this year, 28 were new. It says 66 for me and at a quick glance, that might actually check out. Would have to dive into it some more.

Maybe that's the case.

After all, Steam doesn't get a cut when you activate keys from third party sites :hp_kyu:.

Its as Crazy Tiger wrote, the " new" games relates to titles you at least started once for the first time.
I have like 300 "new" games this year in my Steam Replay because i used Idle Master to farm some cards for a lot of garbage games from bundles.
Did not really "play" any of them but Steam counted them for the "new games" statistic.

False, its reporting on games played for the first time in 2022. The top number shows how many games in total you played this year, the bottom number shows how many of those games you played for the first time this year.

You can easily confirm by counting the titles in the grid view under "Explore the games you played this year"

Count the number that show the "first played in 2022" and it matches

Ahh ok. Then they messed up a bit, I'd say.
They should have just wrote "Games first played in 2022" instead of "new games" in my opinion.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. :)

Prertty clear to all my friends i asked, it is a review of activity for 2022, so new games would obviously refer to new games you played in 2022, and it even shows you all the games that you played that were new in the grid below it...

I mean not sure how much clearer it can be then x games played, and then saying how many of those games were new games and then showing you each individual new game with a banner.

Doesn't say anything about bought or added games at all.......

It wouldn't be the first time Valve used some shoddy wording on things, agreed.

It definitely counts all games -- my game count according to Reply is rather inflated because it also counts games that I didn't play, but added game time to get the cards.

But, whatever number you look at (games played according to Replay, or games played according to my own list) -- I haven't bought that many games in the Steam store...

Also, Steam picked 5 games to show by name. I don't know how they are selected, but for me, 1 is an F2P game, 2 have been bought in the Steam store, 2 have been bought elsewhere, So it's pretty even in that respect.

It does not mean "new games to your library"

You have to have played those games not just add them to your library

I mean in the final view each new game you played has a "new in 2022" tag over it
