My brothers account got hacked and steam wont give me further help than sending me to a help page and only locking my accound

So today my brother got an email saying that, The email address associated with your Steam account has been successfully changed. And ofcourse he dident make these changes but steam wont give us further help than locking the account ive tried looking up support emails but i get this message everytime, This email address is no longer monitored. How can i get further help and reset the mail?

Make sure you are completely logged out of Steam before you start the recovery process

you don't need access to the email, phone number or password tied to the account for this to work.
Just pick the "i forgot my password" and then "I no longer have access..." options when asked.

(or after getting your account back, or just to be safe)

make sure to do all of these


DO NOT TRADE
many scams try and scare you into trading your items and they get hijacked

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/

2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

3. Change passwords from a trusted/clean computer.

4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

The hacker have to know your brother's original email, so how can the hacker have known this?

Unless they found his username and password via fake website.

Without username and password, it is impossible to hacked account.

Scammers don't need to know this - this is what phishing is for. The scammers can then sit idle on accounts and using an API key, they can monitor aspects of account activity or bait the user into a confidence-based scam that way.
