Steam support and Invalid gift card
Got a Physical Steam gift card, clearly scratched off the numbers, and clearly can tell what they are. No luck, keeps telling me invalid. How long does it take steam to reply. I would like to enjoy my games while I still have and and there still is a winter sale....

You will have to bring the gift card and the receipt back to the store purchased from. Steam will not help you with it.

wow that's freaking awful... I have to try to go through my parents, who are old and try to get them to figure out where they got it from an return it.... great. Merry Christmas.

Somehow they think they got it from Amazon, I'm like amazon doesn't even have them looking through all the items on there. I found 50 dollar steam cards being sold for 69.99.... to me that's just dumb if you buy it. Point is... You scratch off a gift card... it should work. The company should correct it if it doesn't. The whole "Oh just jump through 14 hoops to return a gift card" is a half assed and dumb reply.

Support has the ability to actually deal with it, I don't know why the others are suggesting bringing it back to the store.

Thank you! the only question now is how long will it take support to reply. Maybe they are closed on the 26th?

holiday + major sales event = expect it to be a few days or more.

remember, they dont have people just sitting around waiting for tickets. and there are others in line already ahead of you waiting for support to get to their ticket.

When i had an issue with the same thing last year what i did was..

Contact steam support saying i have a gift card that won't work.

They had me take a photo of the complete gift card, not just the steam code, the actual card with the serial and such. I think i took two picks front and back and sent it back to support. They checked the card and added the money. It took a few days to get it all worked out.

All you have t do is look at the receipt. Are you in the United States? If yes, was the card for $5 or $10? If yes, they will not work since physical cards in those values are no longer sold in the United States in physical stores.

You can still get $5 and $10 cards/codes in the US. Coinstar codes and variable rate top up cards are still available.
