Is it safe to buy the steam deck from 3rd party sellers?

Unfortunately I can't buy the Steam Deck through Steam since it's not available where I live. Recently, one of the local game store here started selling one and I'm very tempted to pick one up.

if its not available in your region, then I would avoid it. last I heard, steam was not selling it thru local stores, it is only available thru the steam store. if there is a problem, trying to get warranty covered work/replacement may not be possible. lot of money to spend on a paper weight.

Just be aware that Support and warranty is ONLY active for the account that bought the Steam Deck originally.
So if you have any problems with the Deck, be it hardware or software, Steam Support will NOT help you since you are not the original buyer.
So no replacements or repairs in case of a defect.
