Steam Deck won't boot after factory reset
I factory reset my steam deck and when I turn it on it gives me the message "Fatal Error: Steam needs to be online to update. Please confirm your network connection and try again." With a countdown saying "OK (xx)." xx being seconds. In the background it says "Checking for available updates..." When the timer reaches zero the screen goes black and then it turns on and starts the process over again. I have tried using the boot manager with the volume button and power button, and am able to get to that screen, but either one I choose just sends me to the same screen. What can I do?

Same. This piece of junk isn't worth £35 never mind £350. It's clearly an issue for a lot of people so why aren't Valve doing anything about fixing it and/or helping those who can no longer use their Deck?
Valve used cheap hardware and like xbox this is the results! The decks are a piece of junk you are right. Sold my deck and got and ordered another aya neo. Steam machine and now Steam deck that is two strikes.

Valve has plenty of other failures. Steam controller, Steam Link. It's all so rotten.

Now, after many tries , i could restore the SteamDeck with the Link-Solution above. BUT ! My Deck dont come in BootManager Mode with Power Down . My Screen of the Deck was Black and no Power on goes ... but after Plug in Powercable and disconnect it 3 times in a row , i saw that the Power LED Light was darker , and then i could use Volume UP + Power on Button , i hear the chime and the Boot Manager starts .... i hope i could help here ..... My Deck is now ready to play and full functionally :104: Sorry for my good german :sd2surrender: english Apropos: A restore with the sd-Card doesnt`t work

Same and it sucks balls bc I am stuck in hospital and would love to game.
I managed to "Re-image" mine and got it working again. But you really shouldn't have to go through such a tedious process just to be able to use your device after doing something as simple as a factory reset in the first place! Although it's partly my own fault, I also lost a lot of saved work after using a USB flash drive to download the required file for the re-image which really pissed me off further.
