I thought the sale usually starts a week before Christmas day.

Yes, you are right the Xmas Steam Sale start before but this year is different even end early, too.

Sale starts at 10am PST on the 22nd (today) which is 6pm for those in the UK.

Convert 10am PST to your local time.

Alternatively set the World clock on your mobile to your location and add Seattle as a secondary location.

2021: Dec 22 to Jan 5
2020: Dec 22 to Jan 5
2019: Dec 19 to Jan 2
