Is it external?
You might try opening the drive under "Device Manager", open "Properties", then "Power Management" and turn off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

Which windows?
How large is the drive?
More details .
If you cant access properties then the drive maybe not recognized. As I said which windows?
Have a look in your Disc management Administrative tools.
Control panel>Administrative tools>computer Management>Disc Management.
Are your drives all listed here?
Windows 10 or?
Right-click the Windows icon, then click Disk Management.

Steam doesn’t support external drives no matter how much people “insist” it will work assuming you perform many rituals daily to not break steam and the libraries

External drives are fine as long as they are connected upon starting Steam and don't lose connection during any sync phases.

Opt out of the beta as it is currently a bug in the beta.

If you want to participate in the beta and actively report bugs, by all means, stay in the beta.

If not, stay in the stable branch.
