Game awards Stream - No minutes tracked as watched with two different accounts and phones
Using https://help.steampowered.com/en/accountdata/BroadcastViews to look at how many hours of the Stream were watched shows no time tracked at all, a bit weird as we were watching it for over a couple of hours.

This is with two different mobiles, both running the latest Steam app logged in, registered well in advanced... No ad blockers or any other network blocking.

Not to mention the constant stream issues so we had to keep restarting the Steam app and reloading it, but I'd expect at least part of the time to be tracked!

What gives Valve? Seems like an extreme streaming failure and the Steam Deck giveaway competition might as well not have been there if there it wasn't working for all users fairly...

Something on your end caused it as it is showing the time for me.

If you look at the official page here you will see the two links they posted on it that was where you were needed to had watched it from:

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/5DD7-287C-7548-299D

If you had used either of the links and loaded the video player as one page required you to show it then it should had worked and beyond that it worked fine for me the entire time when I viewed it from my browser.

Yeah the accounts met all them criterias.

I was using the section on the Steam store homepage which goes to https://store.steampowered.com/sale/thegameawards2022

Yup hours of my life lost especially being lame awards! But oh well nothing new for gamer's spending heaps of money to get the little things here and there and the usual boot in the rear but on a side note the awards were amusing to say the least.

My time was listed at 142 seconds. I watched for 2 hours and 50 minutes after Steam's ramshackle broadcasting infrastructure allowed me to watch it. Had the "you're registered good luck" banner and everything. Was mostly using the web client version, at the intended link, which redirected to another page, though I was in the Steam client itself for some of it.

I'm real mad. Aside from the Hades II announcement the whole thing was a waste of my time. I hope Steam gives an explanation.

Yes, we had the "you're registered good luck" banner probably about 70-80% of the couple of hours watching - between desperate refreshes to try and get it going again. Tried the lowest quality stream options too...

I just noticed that before.

2486 seconds = 41 minutes, wasting approx. 2 hours even though I watched it all the way from the client.

I must really liked Valve for stream issues.

On the other side of things the forums were pretty much shut down. Only thing that worked consistently was the store section.

The Steam Android app is a bunch of crap still. Just getting to notifications or the store usually involves a force closure on the unresponsive app. Only app on my phone that plays up... And before you think bad phone, nope. Snapdragon 870 with 12GB of RAM.

What's up with Valve these days, service and software quality gone so downhill.

At least the desktop app is OK.

Well, you know what its more of a big piece of BS? Needing to be either from US, Canada or EU to at least have a chance to get it...

Honestly that has been gone over and it really came down to shipping and taxes and customs. Only places they could ship to easily got to participate.

Is there an official place to report this issue to steam or submit a ticket? Its spilled milk at this point, but if they want to something like this again in the future, they ought to know about these issues. It affected a lot of us in my discord.

The best place I can think is to go here:
https://help.steampowered.com/en/
Then hit the following buttons:
> Steam Community
> Steam Broadcasting
> Contact Steam Support

I think this is technically intended for issues that arise while attempting to broadcast, but it seems like the closest category to fit a ticket into.
