Steam game award streaming was a huge fail

1) I choose a reminder in Steam app.... nothing.


2) I was trying to convert written in small text PST or what else time into my local time, was not sleeping until 1:30 (GMT+1) yesterday..nothing, ok, my bad.

3) tonight.. visiting various pages, like steam.tv, there was nothing on the page.. in 2:30 I noticed there is COLLAPSED thing somewhere on top, which I have to click to be able to see something.. so wasted 1 hour of translation (?) due to the poor web design.

4) from 2:30 and until the end I was trying to watch it.. I had 100+ issues, had to reload page, chat was working and then not working... the winner bar was working and then not working.. the broadcast was stopping with error or just freezing..

5) at some point instead of "Milf lover" like names of winner there were weird numbers, one after another, like 2309857820394802 .. then 67695843943545..

6) I didn't get email or anything, so I guess I didn't win.. it's ok.

So I know what I will do next time, I will ignore anything what Steam is trying to organize. They are incompetent, they can't make a show, only good at making fail..

Every seasonal event in past are well known for their lags, slowdowns, disconnects... people there simply can't do a simple math to account their number of users into loads on server.. nor they can test it before.. nor they get punished, because this is happening again and again..


And what is your guys story about game awards? What you will remember?

4. I heard it didn't work for some even though I was able to watch the entire thing starting from the pre-show.

5. That's when the servers get hammered and fails to parse the username and reverts back to the community ID number. It's nothing new.

Until Valve finally blocked it. Then, people started spamming /check.

It all started so well with Al Pacino not being able to read the TelePrompter and the unbelievable long speech from Christopher Judge!

I'm more upset by the fact that even though I watched the entire extended ad masquerading as an awards show, I only got credit for watching 11 minutes of the nearly-3 hour broadcast.

Which of course means that for the other 160ish minutes I just wasn't eligible to win anything despite still watching the commercial.

I'm actually starting to wonder at what point does that just become fraud.....

I was talking about streaming, the video is available to watch in a good quality. I remember Hideo Kojima speech, where he mentioned the viewers will build their theories from the DS2 trailer =D

1 to 5000 chance to win (3 hours = ~200 decks for up to ~1 mln legitimate viewers).. but I feel a bit sad to loose some of my chances due to late start and possibly to technical issues with streaming.
