You can only add it as a non-steam game. Which will not track any stats because it was not purchased through Steam.

Well if the mod .exe in same folder as normal .exe then just rename them both, and when launch from steam it should launch your mod .exe and count your hours.

Now if mod .exe need to be named the way it is for mod to work, then only option is make copy of it, and rename the original game .exe and name the copy of the mod .exe as the original as may work that way, or make a target to launch mod .exe instead. That what I can think of you can try doing to get your hours to count.

This is not entirely correct. If he can change the name of the exe to match the original game's exe. Stats will be recorded all the same.

The only exception to this MIGHT be achievements. But, that really depends on the game but in general achievements wont work with a modded exe unless they made sure to keep the calls intact. Assuming the modded EXE was made from a steam game. But, we literally dont have that information sadly.

Lemme provide some context then,

This is for a game called Mount and Blade Warband, and the mod in question is called WSE2. WSE2 provides a new shader engine and massively improves performance and provides more advanced graphical options to enhance the game to your liking.

The exe in question is infact located in the same directory as the original exe.

Ive heard of people using targets to launch a mod .exe, but researching it made me very confused, so perhaps someone can explain in simpler terms.

Try first part what I talked about, just rename of .exe, and rename mod .exe so Steam launch the mod .exe if it works then don't need to do anything else but launch from steam.

Hey anyone having this problem now, what worked for me was actually renaming the executable file to the one it was trying to launch. So instead of it being called 7DaystoDie or whatever it was trying to launch 7dtodielauncher or something like that, I just renamed it to exactly what it said was missing. And then did the same for the Data folder above, which was also "incorrectly" named. Otherwise the game will not launch through Steam and you will get stuck on the menu saying you aren't logged in. Do this and it should start up fine.

1. Right Click on your game

2. Go to Properties

3. Set Launch Options...

4. Enter this command below:

"FULL PATH TO GAME.EXE" %command%

..............................................................................................................................................

E.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Game\Game.exe" %command%

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
