In game it causes micro stuttering. Stops when process is killed.
Games I found it most obvious to me were Kerbal Space Program and Valheim
Also both games unmodded so it isn't a mod issue.
Odd one indeed.
Don't and never owned an Xbox or had an account with them or anything.
What versions do you folks run? Wonder if the difference it that.
GTX 1070?
Intel board?
Version 21H2
Installed on 6/15/2020
OS build 19044.2251
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0
Just make sure its not recording the last whatever min of game play, and turn it off and do not hit the Win+G in game, see if it stops the micro stutter.
It's just annoying to have my computer do things I specifically am asking it not to do, do it anyway... I guess win 11 is going to be even worse as I don't think it considers you as owner of the hardware at all.
Time really is ripe for a new OS that is user friendly unlike Linux.. I think a lot of people would run if there was a real alternative.
go to
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsRuntime\ActivatableClassId\Windows.Gaming.GameBar.PresenceServer.Internal.PresenceWriter
Change "ActivationType 1" to "0", reboot.
Before you make the changes you might need to change permission for that folder and give your profile (Administrators in my case for example) a full access permissions (Security tab).
This process is independable, even if you turned all the Xbox services OFF it will appear when you start the game.
Not a big fan of messing with code though but I'll think about it...
A question though.. what exactly will this do? Will it prevent auto activation but still allow manual activation if I do for some reason want to use it in the future? Or will this disable the application totally and I will have to undo the change manually this way to use it at all?
Thanks in advance if you can answer. Much appreciated!!
This service not needed for any Xbox services you might want to run (Win10 pro in my case, don't know about W11).
To reactivate it just change the value back to "1".Or you just can right click on that folder (in regedit) and backup it before the changes (it will create a reg file with default settings),so if you even need it back you can restore the settings to it defaults in one click.
Absolutely no harm.
Just create a *txt file with notes as a reminder what you did, in case you afraid that you can forget the steps in future.
