So many unfinished, abandoned and broken games
With so many devs abandoning their games. Perhaps running off with the money they made in early access.

What steps does steam take to deal with these devs?
Do they black list them and have a way to verify they can't scam us again?
Do they vet devs that start a new early access?

I noticed this last steam sale was full of broken and abandoned games.

Why not just be honest and tag a game broken or call it a massive broken game sale.

For a game to go on sale there has must have been a discussion between Steam and the dev to allow it. So why does Steam not just check the game to see if its broken?

Why is steam allowing devs to make more money with their obvious broken game?

\Will it take an action class lawsuit to change their ways?

How is an Early Access game a scam? You buy an unfinished product that may never be finished, you get an unfinished product that may never be finished. You get exactly what you purchased.

In that regard the problem is more with people purchasing it and being unable to properly manage their expectations.

When purchasing an early access game you agree to the possibility of the game not progressing further in development.

Note: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

:homelol: Perhaps “running off with” is a poor choice of idiom.

Developers who have a failed EA project? Not really any of that.

You’ve declared things “scams” without any evidence of a scam.

People tend to throw around “broken” for games which won’t work for them — ignorant it seems of the users for which problems are not prevalent.

:spazdunno: Valve isn’t going to hose developers via scarlet letter, I wit.

.... Why is steam allowing devs to make more money with their obvious broken game? ....

:rl2shrug: It would help if you were less vague about the subject of your rant.

.... Will it take an action class lawsuit to change their ways?

:TravelerWalking: Good luck with the legal action, traveler.

Actually the games I purchased were not Early Access.

Actually you could specify — so we can quickly establish how wholly they aren’t scams and how much speculative hyperbole in which you are indulging.

:deeperperiscope: Or, rather, that’s my expectation for the direction.

Can we not make up blatantly silly claims please?
Sigh.

My definition of a broken game is a game that cannot be finished due to bugs.

Wow do many people here seem to actually look the other way on these scams. Perhaps that is the true state of the industry.

Of course I have lower expectations of games in Early Access. But when they leave Early Access its expected they have a finished game.

Then name some games.

I don't have games I can't finish due to bugs, so there is nothing for me to look the other way about.

If the devs say that game is finished, then it is. You not being happy with it is a you problem. As for games that can't be finished due to bugs, I bet any game you claim that about will show that people have finished it, which belies your claim

In addition if a Dev does not update an early access game (Maybe after a year). It should get a tag and be removed.

Early Access games are expected to be games that are worked on and not abandoned. That is the condition when we buy an early access games is that a dev is working on it.

No, that is NOT a condition for EA games when you buy them, in fact it is explicitly told to you the game may not change at all

Please don't blatantly lie.
It literally spells out that the Early Access game may never be completed.

You don't win points by being blatantly obvious here.

Or in some cases, be completely incapable of reading.

I can't believe so many people endorse this behavior.

Its like Steam has managed to scare away any constructive feedback.

Its "Like" Steam hired a bunch of lawyers to defend their forums.

These are my opinions and my opinion should be respected seeing how much money I have spent on games.

Maybe its Steam that is broken
