thanks for the really fast reply!
I've tried to play Bloodstained, but sadly I didn't like it at all. I could only stand it for 3-4h and have never returned since. It felt really empty and soulless to me :(
(I forget to mention it above and updated the first post accordingly)

Another game you might enjoy since you played Zelda

Guacamelee (more simplistic and combat heavy but still counts).

One thing to note. It's hard. It's not pulling any punches and plenty of secrets need pin point accuracy to get too.
Bosses are similar with that you don't have much room for error.
Feature a pretty large map too.
Thats kind of funny, because not only is that one of the "truest" Metroidvania from all you listed, its made by the person who actually invented the entire genre with Symphony of the Night. ^^
Uhhhhh, should we tell him what metroidvania is a combination of?
Since i played the original Metroid in 1988 on my NES, no you dont.
But the first game being called a Metroidvania and being considered the origin of the term was "Symphony of the Night".
Metroid games are not Metroidvanias. They are Action Adventure games that have some ELEMENTS that are also present in Metroidvania games.
But a Metroidvania is defined by the mix of the elements from classical Metroid and Castlevania games.
Enrique Cabeza, Art director of the game Blasphemous stated:
Blasphemous is not actually a metroidvania. It has some things from that genre, but we want to make something new [...] We wanted to not base the exploration on abilities for the player, but something different, something more poetic, or weird.
Both feature large expansive areas.
Both feature gears and skills that you can get that will let you access new areas.
Both feature secret rooms.
Both feature a level up mechanic but Metroid uses Heart system where Castlevania use traditional level up system.
Both involve a lot of going back and forth on the map.
They share more stuff than you think.
