Pressing "Download" button on free DLC's launches the game

Hello,

I was wondering since I wanted to claim free DLC's for one game I own and there's like 3-4 free ones but every time I press the "download" button the game launches like I would want to play the game, I just want to claim the dlc without starting the game, are there any solutions that I can claim the DLC's without launching the game?

Already tried that but it launched the game also (had the steam app on)

It asks to launch the Steam client bootstrapper. You just click no.

doing downloading a free dlc this complicated is stupid, that needs to change

just tried your suggestions but pressing the no button just got me to the steam download page and didn't claim the dlc

still i don't like the idea, whenever Nintendo Switch or PS4 has a free dlc, it'll automatically just go to the download queue or add it to the dlc list on the game

I don't like this as well. Recently I bought Dungeon of the Endless and it has some free DLC. There is no reason it can't simply install it without booting up the game, as it works in the same way as the paid DLC.

I'm also pretty sure I added free DLC in the past to games that simply installed without booting the game..

Still no easy way, no ability to add free DLC to the cart? Perhaps this thread is worth necroing so that somebody from Valve finally notices this crap still happening...
