You don't need to own a game to craft badges. Just find a game that only requires 5 cards and just buy them from the market.

Like SpunkyJones said; it's usually cheaper to just purchase a set of cheap trading cards.

Except, you don't. You can buy any set and craft them, you do not need to own a game in order to craft the badge.

This will not work. Free to play games that have cards will not drop without a purchase. You need to spend the equivalent of $9 USD in-game to earn a card drop.

Again, the game isn't needed. Just go to the market, buy some cards for cheap and then go to your badge page and craft them.

As it was said above, the game is not needed to make the badges.
