You realise this phrase doesnt make any sense, right?
It made more sense when there wasn't a post between mine and the one I was replying to.
OPSkins is violating the same TOS with it's trading bot that gambling sites are, hence it will be affected as well (to a greater or lesser degree depending on how exactly Steam is going about flagging the trading bots for the gambling sites).
Im doubtful they would go after them as the announcement was SPECIFICALLY about gambling sites, not sites that are using steam trade bots in a way that is not entirely endorsed by Valve.
And then the Gambling Sites hook up via sites like OPSkins instead of directly through Steam and work exactly the same (you deposit on OPSkins and then the gambling site can see the items and have you use OPSkins to move them to their account to get the "funds" for gambling). It's not like they aren't willing to jump through hoops to get the sites up and running in the first place.
If Valve is going to do this it's not really going to be able to get away with half measures, they will have to shut down ALL trading bots (or make a best faith effort to do so) if they want this to be effective at stopping the Gambling sites.
Dunno if i should cash out my Inv on OP-Skins...
It's your choice. You're an adult...which seems to be what a lot of people are forgetting.
The gambling sites will re-open but if Steam truly cracks down on them, they'll have to use even less secure measures than they do now. And people will still use them and then they'll get mad and cry about how they lost all the knives they bought with mommy's credit card and their daddy is a lawyer and it's Gabe's fault.
"subscription" all games on steam. Bye bye steam. I don't spend more money on this useless platform.
I dunno, if it didn't appear that such sites were endorsed by Valve, I reckon kids'd be more likely to steer clear.
If you're referring to the fact that you don't really own the games on your account, only a license to them and your access may be revoked if you violate Valve or the publisher's terms of service then that's not new.
You have over 500 games. Doesn't seem like Steam is as useless as you claim since you do in fact use it...a lot.
When they tried to apply this system to other games gamers did a loud : WE DON'T WANT TO PAY.
Problem is Zet. What's the difference between a gambling site and any other trade site as to how they perform their functions? Not much if any. In short, it makes more sense for Valve to lock down the ability for accounts to be linked like that than to take up the taske of vetting and becoming responsible for third party sites that use it. As I said.,..Because some people in the community are trustuing ♥♥♥♥♥ the rest of the community is about to get a bit more restricted.
But that does not change the fact, that they observed this in silence, until now ...
If you compare that to a prostitution ring, it's like they were handing out the room keys to the pimps, for making ♥♥♥♥♥♥ out of their women and children.
It maybe not illegal, but it is at least amorale, in letting it slide. All for making more money out of their skins.
It's funny how the same people ^^ complaining about the new restrictions and authentication measures are the same people who want more restrictions...so they can ♥♥♥♥♥ about those too.
I love how it's Valve's fault that people are idiots who don't think they should accept any amount of personal responsibility for their actions.
