Any way yet to remove unwanted profile and post awards?
So some troll decided they didnt agree with one of my posts, and decided to "award" my profile jester. It seems I now have two options, and only two options. First, live with what we all know is a troll stamp visible on my profile, or hide every other award there.

Why does steam openly support cyberbullying and harassment by handing trolls these clearly abused tools and allow them to anonymously vandalize others profiles and posts, but prevent us from removing the vandalism? We can remove comments from our profiles, why can we not selectively remove this troll stamp?

There's a box in your profile settings - tick it.

Edit: Also, Jesters aren't harassment - it's literally free points.

Because it's not a "troll stamp". The only.person that is assigning a meaning to the little silly internet picture is you. No one knows why you were awarded a Jester award.

That would be option 2, which I am aware of, which hides everything instead of just removing the vandalism.

Why yes, _I_ assign meaning and value to something on MY profile, that was put there without my consent, by the same kind of childish troll who decided to do the same to this thread, which I knew someone would.

I get why steam created them, but they are being abused, and there needs to be a way to address this abuse.

It wasn't me.

But it's taking all of my will power to not give you a jester award

this gas lighting has to stop.
everyone knows the meaning.
everyone knows why.

calling someone a "clown" is a common insult.
that's how the jester "award" is used.

Farming threads, no matter how much the makers insist they are genuinely complaining, should merit a ban.

That's, like, your opinion. My GF likes me makin her laugh and we've seen cases of satire (so, comedy) doing important jobs in society.

No. You can hide just profile awards already. You do not need to private a profile. You dont know what youre talking about.

But _you_ also don't know why you were awarded a Jester. You're automatically assigning a negative value to something that is completely benign. It being on your profile, now, is no less of a mark to your perceived image or standing with the community than if it had been any other award. It's just a dumb picture like the rest.

Play a game and stop worrying about it.

The best solution I could come up with was giving us the ability to block awards, any of your choice so you never get them.

And if you have them let you delete them if you have enough points to cover the removal. The points don't go back but just get burned.

That would solve everything including people complaining to farm.

I like the Jester personally.

Since when did steam become reddit? What's next nested comments and karma?

Been that way for years. You can find threads raising this issue going back to at least 2020. Its been clearly established as abuse and bullying, its been proven multiple times in this thread.

But apparently giving control over a section of your profile to random trolls and bullies, and being complicit in and encouraging the harassment by not allowing the owner of said profile to selectively remove the vandalism while keeping the legit awards, is somehow financially profitable to valve, who continue to avoid addressing the problem.

It's funny how the jester awards get people so worked up. It's just a lame little emoji, and someone donated their points to you for it.
