Do you prefer using Mouse/Keyboard or Gamepad for Single-Player FPS games?
So first off I want to apologize if there is already a thread similar to this, I tried searching but didn't get anything. Anyway, as the title suggests, do you prefer using a gamepad or mouse/keyboard for single player FPS games?

Now I know this is different for everyone and yes I agree that mouse/keyborad allows better percision. And no doubt that the keyboard/mouse is MUCH better for multiplayer onlnie gaming as you need that extra percision. Right now I have my PC hooked up to a 32-inch HDTV in my room and use a small folding table for the mouse and keyboard so I am sitting about 5 feet away from the tv. For some reason I prefer playing single player FPS games with the gamepad more so then the mouse/keyboard. I guess I find it more relaxing because I can just slouch back in my chair more easily. I also seem to find that games feel a bit more immerssive (at-least for me). I guess because I can take my time to slowly look around the enviroment and take it all in nice and slow. Now I will say this, if I had my pc at a desk on lets say a 18 inch monitor, then I will definately probably prefer mouse/keyboard because I am closer to the screen and whatnot.

What about you guys, what is your setup and what do you prefer? What are your thoughts?

I play FPS on keyboard & mouse, TPS (most of the time) on a gamepad.

FPS on keyboard and mouse, Platformers and GTA on Xbox 360 controller.
Games like Super Meat Boy are just annoying with keyboard & mouse and GTA IV's controls are terrible on mouse and keyboard.

I haven't tried shooters with the gamepad yet, but, eventually...

I'll play everything with a controller/gamepad if given the option, even if it means I'm at a disadvantage or whatever. I just find it so much easier and more comfortable than a keyboard+mouse combo.

For FPS, I use only mouse and keyboard.
For TPS, I will use a controller.

If it's a platformer I'll usually use the controller as well.

Mouse/keyboard

Mouse and keyboard, unless the game has plenty of QTEs. Almost everything else I play using a controller, including third person shooters.

The obvious point is that console gamers don't have a choice, we do.
They have to get good at using the pad because there's simply no other option.

Which one is better - pad or keyboard - mainly depends on what you are used to.
If you are used to keyboard then that will feel much more intuitive than playing with a pad.

Personally I prefer a controller because I simply don't like playing games at my desk.
With most PC games I don't have an option, like with strategy games and older games.

I use mouse/keyboard for pretty much everything, except for the Ys games. I've tried playing Mirror's Edge using a gamepad and it felt weird. Since then, I didn't even consider using it for FPS games.

I use a 15.6 inch monitor so I sit near the screen whether I use m+k or gamepad.
