Steam movies rant

To begin with not all movies are bad, some deserve to be on steam like Indie Game: The Movie. I highly recommend watching this.

Its nice to have videos about dota 2/cs go competition or behind the scene in game development.

So today a friend gave me a link to a steam movie and its called Laid in America

What i can see from the trailer its a low budget movie about KSI and one other guy getting laid... Why is this on steam? Can someone explain why is steam allowing this? This movie has nothing to do about gaming. I'm worried what is steam becoming.

I can't really judge the movies itself since I didn't watched them.

But I know that for the same 10 bucks I have 100 x more movies on other platforms so at least the price tag is not very competetive to say at least

Steam has stocked products that are "nothing to do with gaming" for quite a while now, and the sky hasn't fallen. While I think Valve need to continue working on ways for people to effectively filter the store to the sorts of things they're interested in, I'm not sure what there is to be worried about.

There's a common audience between Steam users and movie viewers and they're trying very hard to find it and tap into it.

Well it looks like steam is trying to be jack of all trades and its not going well for them and it pisses of some users. Pretty much all current movies on steam are just bad and don't deserve to be here.
HTC Vive is a big failure, the sales were kinda good when it got released but no one is buying them or even using them because its too expensive and games for VR are not worth it. They spent years and alot of resources for it.
Steam controller did kinda well in my opinion, not too sure about it.
Steam machines were also a huge failiure.

Next thing i know is that steam will be shipping furniture, like gaming chairs to compete with IKEA or whatever.

You're not hyped for the SteamDesk and SteamChair? They have Valve logos on them! I'm gonna pre-order the SteamFootrest as soon as it's on the Store. I heard that if you buy all three you get free copies of Half-Life 3, Portal 3, and Left for Dead 3.

They are not gaming related. Why would those movies be on "The Ultimate Online Game Platform"?

Maybe they want it to be "The All-In-One Platform".

I said maybe, as in, maybe that's what they're working towards being. There's no point in them calling themselves that if they have yet to achieve that goal, is there.

Movies came to Steam around the same time the Steam Machines launched, didn't they? Maybe it has something to do with that. Who knows.
