no linux icon in steam STORE ?
Browsing through games in steam store is made easier with the OS icons for Windows and MacOS. But there seems to be no consistent icon for linux / SteamOS ??

I usually take a look in the store when sales or other specials pop up... but I quickly loose interest because I cannot quickly identify which games will work on my linux machine (I have no Windows or MacOS). I mean - the information is there... but I have to click the title and scroll down to the System Requirements section. I feel that the Windows or MacOS users have an advantage here.

Please make this icon (penguin?) to advertize linux compatibility better.

The icon was a penguin in the past (if i remember correctly) but i think they changed it with the release (or sometime after that) to the steamos/steam symbol to advertise that better...

They should return to Tux as Steam OS is only a dumbed down version of Ubuntu.

I'm unaware of that but you may be right. Then lets just say both Ubuntu and Steam OS are
derived from Debian.
As Tux is worldwide acknowledged as mascot for GNU\Linux it would be the better choice.

Debian 8 code, yes.

Agreed it's about branding their 'own' OS. What I heard it didn't help very much. IIRC the
aggregate sales of 'steam machines' from all manufacturers were around 500,000 units.

The main problem is that they've started to use the circular Steam logo everywhere (including at the top of the Steam website), so it's now even less clear than it was that it's supposed to mean SteamOS.

They should bring back the Tux and create a new unambiguous branding for SteamOS.

The problem is, the presence of that logo does not even guarantee that the game is compatible with Linux.
It is not a "SteamOS" icon - as of now at least -, it is the "SteamPlay" icon. It appears together with the Windows and MacOS logos, denoting that the game/program is compatible with both Windows and MacOS.
As an example, look at Northgard: it has all 3 icons, but is only compatible with Windows and Mac.
The truth is, Linux does not even have its own icon. You have to scroll down to the system requirements section to verify compatibility.

That is not the Steam Play icon. Steam Play has largely been phased out as a thing that's mentioned.

Also, Northgard does have Linux. Look on their forums.

Windows & Nix. No Mac icon.

No the steam logo is the "linux", not Steamplay icon.

This is why on the store, the images are saved as
class="platform_img win" class="platform_img mac" class="platform_img linux"
