Argentina : Steam hate us
Yes just i want to know if STEAM hate our country.

We have lot of cons using steam, no offense this is a kind discussion and i really want to belive steam most important ppl would see this and start working for get better relationship on our country, cause we are lot of gamers here.

1. Prices : Prices of games are insane, right now we have a recomendation price of 3800 ars but steam rise price to more than that breaking his own rules, also dont care about the TAXES we paid its ok but.. most AAA games are more than 3800 ars, and dont work with parteners or devs for make better relationship for us.

2 Hardware: Why i see ads about steam deck when you dont even sell us in Argentina, idk whats the problem XBOX AND PLAYSTATION sell millions of consoles on our country.. i guess you guys need to stop showing us to fans this ads then..

3. Dont care about make better place for Latin americans in steam.. I start thinking steam its a ELITIST gaming community that only care Europeans and Americnas ( bad called that cause its north america)

If you dismiss anything you don't want to hear as trolling, don't start a thread in a DISCUSSION forum.
It's not Steam it's Valve... sheesh... if you're not even able to adress this to the right place you better let it be...:cat_and_thoughts:
Devs choose prices, Valve only recommends them. Argentina's peso is currently almost worthless, 1 being worth about 0.0062 US dollars, so devs have hiked their prices until it becomes more valuable again.

I mean, with the old recommended prices a indie devs ears like 50 cent on a game sale in Argentina.
Just MAYBE those devs want to live too and pay rent and such?

Seems like Argentina's economy is going through Greece's issue about 7 years ago.

They don't, it's just that the currency has significantly dropped in value, so you have to pay more to equate to the desired price.

Developers / Publishers ultimately set the price when they submit a product. Not Steam.

New product, it appears they're already trying to branch out, but seeing as how the base model is "painful" to sell at its price, you'd be paying as much or more in the USD price, which is still significantly expensive.

They can advertise their own products freely on their own site as they wish. Don't take it personally that it's currently not sold in your region.

Just because things are currently economically unstable in your country, does not make it "elitist". There is no point for this. People want to be paid for the things you buy, even if the currency is worth less than theirs.

Developers/Publishers set their own products prices ultimately.
Steam only recommends, they do not submit the prices for others products.
Ouch. I wasn't aware the value was that bad.
Yeah, this is showing that Argentina is having money issues.
Hopefully it gets fixed sometime before it gets to 1930 GErmany, and the 35,000 Marks it cost to get a loaf of bread.
Do they hate you?
No!

Do they not care about you?
Yes!

Zimbabwe had some hyperinflation going on a decade ago or so, so bad they ran out of room to put zero's on the money. 100 Trillion dollar bills, no joke.

Yeah. Zimbabwe was wild back then for certain.

Agreed. At one point, I believe the hyperinflation got so bad that the price of goods was doubling almost daily...
Argentina never recovered properly from the complete destruction of its currency's value in 1989. Its politicians were too poor at their job - and no doubt too corrupt - to fix it.

Professor Niall Ferguson, "The Ascent of Money" episode 2. Watch from around 36:50 and the next 10 minutes to see how Argentina got completely ruined. In 1989 Argentina had hyperinflation and the central bank ran out of paper to print banknotes on and the central bank's printers went on strike.

As long as politicans fail to keep a currency at least somewhat stable, people outside of the country will refuse to accept it. It's that simple.

You need to keep your calm, don't let them get to you, you have a legitimate concern and question, don't be discouraged by the pack attack.

Notice the bad faith - the attack on your currency, like they don't know it is pegged to the dollar. Or calling Steam... Steam. Yeah, it's Valve down the line, but everyone knows what you are talking about and the platform IS Steam!

Why are you literally lying here about what's happening? That's not cool.

Where's the lie, liar?
Steam prices are derived from US dollar prices then eventually expressed in the local currency taking the exchange rate into account. Why insult his country like he'd begged for the games, not paying for it as everyone else.
I never did that and you are quite literally lying if you claim I did.
You came here and attacked everyone because of Argentina's economy being bad.
LOL wut.

To sum up. When the currency is unstable, accepting it becomes a risk and the person accepting it has to hedge against that risk.
