How much is Steam Points Worth?
So I’m having an idea that selling Steam points for 1000 p= 1$ it is worth or it just a dumb question

A dumb question, since you only get them from forum rewards which are only able to be gifted through points based on purchases made on Steam, and from purchases you made.

So, you'd have to buy a game, to give the reward at double the cost of them getting it.

Steam already thought this through, so dumb question.

Example. Take my Points Award, grants 1600. Costs 4800.

Each point is worth 1 USD Cent in the Store. So, you would have to spend $48 USD, to give 1600 points.

Ya... Doesn't add up, does it? =P

1$ = 100 points

You cant sell Steam Points through Steam either, so your only option for that is essentially scamming people on other websites by charging them for ten times their actual value.

Receiving an award only grants you 1/3 the cost of the award. And it is not a supported type of trade/sale since you are hoping that the other person is true to their word.

It's a lose-lose-lose situation.

There ARE people selling steam points, but the prices of sellers greatly varies, you should also set your own price and wait to see if people are showing interest

Which is not supported by Steam and places you at risk of getting scammed.

People are selling points for gems in Steam Trading Cards Group
Ratio is diverse, like 1000 points received for 750 gems.

I bought some points like that without bad surprises. I got it that way because I bought most games I wanted before steam points were given for buying games.

It's safer to choose a seller that has a positive sell history in the thread, high level profile, many awards given already on Awards Showcase. The risk is minimal then, still would be better if steam allowed to put awards directly in trade, like coupons and other stuff.

Guess how ebay scammers operate. Hint: They make genuine transactions at first to get good reviews and THEN they scam.

It would be even better for scammers to not exist but since they do Steam aint going to change anything, especially for stuff like this because it just allows account stealers to cause more damage then what their limited to as is.

To the OP: Steam Points have no official worth, you get 100 points per dollar spent on the platform, any and all other forms of transforming those into tangable use is seen as third party by Valve, just like how they view non-Steam market trading of CSGO and TF2 items.

They aren't worth any real money because they cannot be converted back. They are just a bonus for spending money in the Steam store. There are some nice profile items you can get to use on Steam. If those are valuable to you, of course. Or you can spend points to "award" user content. It's pretty much just internal bonus coins to use on various fun things.

I heard of that Russian scam site, they used fake accounts to post positive reviews and are blatantly violating the Steam Subscriber Ageeement.

I was recently alerted to the domain on a web reputation forum, and the multitude of fake positive reviews posted about it.

Not true 1 steam point is worth £0.05 p each so 1 pound worth of steam points is 20 steam points.
