Achievements that are no longer possible to achieve

I like to get 100% or work on getting 100% achievements in games , i find it a good game play or replay-ability motivator to aim for achievements , but i am consistently finding games i buy its just not possible getting all of them IE multiplayer service has been shutdown etc etc. Does steam ever plan or having these removed from the games so that we can actually get a 100%
achievement completion on older games. a good example is Garry's mod - Yes i am the real Gary - meet Gary online. now i mean if you buy the game in 2022 there's absolutely no chance at all of ever meeting Gary online now , so how could you complete the achievements they advertise the game with, fair enough if you have won that achievement years back when he was active but for new purchasers of the game i think these achievements should be removed. another example would be hitman absolution , the contracts portion of their game has been shutdown and servers no longer online but multiple unobtainable achievements remain for the game. just seems odd to advertise the games with them but not allow players to achieve them through legitimate means. Surely steam could integrate a report function to report achievements that are no longer obtainable

IIRC that Garry's Mod achievement can also be earned by playing with someone who has it, but that might be a different game that involves playing with the devs to get an achievement.

Gmod requires to be on the same Server with the only and only Garry Newman himself.

That's a good idea, a report function to make an achievement stop counting for completion %

What about games with servers entirely shutdown though? It wouldn't be fair to give everyone 100% completion if they're missing half of the achievements

I mean the achievement for Garry in of itself already sounds rather rare, I dont see why they'd remove it, i'd be like trying to remove the Impossible achievement from Stanly Paroble, I doubt they will ever do that.

Plenty of ocd gamers strive for 100% and dont gaf about what other people think of them. Its totally irrelevant and you are downing the op. The fact of the matter is if you think steam cant fix or do anything about this you are wrong. If you are saying old issue and already talked about. So what? The issue keeps coming up for a reason. If it gets annoying maybe you think the issue should be fixed? Instead of just whining about how steam doesnt fix anything or care or have ownership blah blah. Poor excuses all day when steam is now over 1 bil I believe.

They own your profile and what counts as statistics and what displays. So they can easily disable an achievement from counting.

I agree with this. When I was 15, my thinking was entirely different than that of today.
As I got older I realized that all that fuss about achievements is simply ridiculous.
They are there. It's your choice and yours alone, will you invest your time and dedication on them or not.

So because the way you felt about them before and after puberty means everyone feels the same way? Its not like you necessarily did anything but just the mention of all this is not doing anything for the op.

Is is too much to ask for Valve to fix a System that is broken and has been neglected pretty much ever since it has been introduced?
You are free to ignore it if you dont care, but i care about them so im also allowed to ask them to finally put some Work into that System, you can always continue to ignore it after it has been reworked. You not caring doesnt mean it has to stay broken. Its so incredibly selfish.

Some people have nothing better to do but just oppose whatever people complain about. Humans arent allowed to complain according to the cool people who always use that time to ego boost. It sucks to be working on a game or really like a game yet cant get the shiny 100% personal satisfaction because of a bad idea achievement or broken.

Although I will praise most devs as I dont run into this issue ever personally. However I think I did turn down one game for this and another game was completely broke and I cant get anything anymore.

This thread should be about ways to solve this issue and what we can do. I think we need to want steam to have better communication with its members and have an ongoing team to work things out with people. Its the least they can provide for how much money we spend on this platform.

The first thing they need to do is get rid of all these trolls on this forum that spend their day irritating others and opposing topics just because they are troublesome and argumentative. Enough downplaying peoples issues

If steam recognized these achievements are changed how they count against % and on your profile I think many people would be happy. So READ BETWEEN THE LINES. Steam cannot altar games achievements is all you prove. They can completely change how they appear on steam of if they appear at all. You sir are not smart.
