It's really not complicated. Play games because you enjoy them. If you enjoy getting achievements, get them, for YOUR own satisfaction.

I don't mean this in a rude way, but nobody else on this website cares what achievements you did or didn't get, everyone has their own crap they are focused on. Whatever internet prestige you think you get by getting rare achievements In a video game is an illusion.
Ofc yeah but why there is % of how many people got this achievement if the achievements pointless ? No one cares right ?

The majority of people don't use SAM, so overall those numbers will still be pretty accurate. You can still be proud of yourself for getting a rare /hard to get achievement, but just don't expect internet clout from it, because exactly, outside of your own enjoyment from it, it is pointless. But that would be the case whether you could cheat them or not, it still wouldn't have any real value.

It was invented so little dweebs could come on the Steam forums and practice their snitching techniques ,using large capital letters of course..

Because there will always be suckers that spend money specifically to chase pointless metrics. Look at f2p mobile game whales.
..because no one, including VAC or any other anti-cheat, gives a crap what you do with achievements.
Because as pointed out since most people don't use SAM (since most people don't care all that much about full achievement completion) it's generally accurate. Just a neat little stat to take note of, nothing more, nothing less.

if you enjoy the achievements, they are still there for you to obtain. do not worry about how i got mine, or you are going to waste a lot of energy uselessly.
Nothing, it's like skipping school for 4 years, the finals and still ending with a straight A.
Did you do a search? I have come across some topics on Steam about this.

Another way to demonstrate how few people actually use SAM, the number of people who unlock all the achievements for a given game must be lower than the rarest achievement for the game. The fact there's achievements with 0.1% at all proves just how few people use it.
They don't care because nobody in their right mind cares about people cheating achievements, they're THAT worthless.

Valve never allowed this program. They don't really bother doing anything about it as achievements have zero value.
does it called sam or i am wrong ?
SAM is short for Steam Achievements Manager. It's not made by Steam, not own by Steam, and Steam did not provide it.

Messaggio originale di Yoshi:
idk i saw some people use something and they got achievement by one click , its really annoying when you see the different between people who playing the game for whole month and people by 1 click got all of them
yes ofc achievements have zero value but cmon what is the point of the game you bought ?
the achievements really prove something that you complete the game also give you extra time playing it
its just sad when you see achievement that you get is totally pointless on steam ...
so this program allowed or not ?
Achievements only matter to oneself, not others.

Some people may use SAM to unlock things if the achievement is broken where if Dev already move onto something else, it very unlikely the broken achievement get fixed.

But often no one cares what people do with their achievement, as again only a personal thing, not others.

I've heard that some games devs will give bans for using it, but Steam has no official stance on the matter it seems. Just like most people they do not really care about achievements. You need to realize that achievements are for the most part for the individual players. No one is looking at your profile and saying "Wow, this person got all the achievements in game X. They are so cool." I mean, are you upset when you complete a game on the hardest difficulty knowing that some people play through on easy, or that some people use exploits or in-game cheats to complete single player games? Heck, there are many games that have ways in game of cheesing achievements anyway. Plus really they are only really unlocking some of them with a single click as a lot of the achievements (at least in my experience) are so trivial and easy to get that they are basically handed to your anyway. You've completed the tutorial, here's an achievement! You selected this character 10 times, that's totally an accomplishment!

If you are buying games and trying to earn the achievements merely to show off to others then I'm sorry to say you are wasting a lot of time and money.

Yes it's possible devs can game ban you for cheating the achievements.

Nothing wrong playing games to unlock things, or bragging about it, but I do agree most people won't care about it.
Most game bans for achievements were retired years ago.
Payday 2 did it for a while.
Then they stopped.

Logically, stopping people from playing the game that they bought in single player is very not allowed. :P
Multiplayer bans for cheating, makes plenty of sense.
Even if it involves Achievement manipulation.
