Does Steam family sharing give you ban?
My friend and i were thinking about buying games via steam family sharing.
And my question is - there is VAC ban for that? or sth like this? any penalty?
I thought VAC is only for cheating software
I dont wanna buy games like this if i can get ban on IP and lost my main acc.
Someone can help?

What? Why would you be banned for using something Valve themselves implemented? I think you misread the part regarding library sharing and VAC bans. If someone you're sharing your library to gets banned in a game, your account is also banned in that game.

So we can buy for example cyberpunk like this via access to acc ? its cheaper but we dont own the game

Wait you're going to PAY someone to share their library with you? That is a horrible idea.

you dont buy via family share. family share only allowes you to share your library with another account. it is called FAMILY SHARE for a reason, it is not share with a random person. not all games can be shared, that is up to that games developer. you dont pick what is getting shared, it is the entire library or nothing. and the library can only be access by one account at a time, the account the library belongs to will auto boot who ever is borrowing their library.

yeah, sounds like renting another person account. not something to be advertising on the boards as, yes, that is against the rules

so we shouldnt try it? if its against rules i dont wanna risk a ban

either one of you can buy the game and then family share if you want. that is not against the rules

renting someone else's account is against the rules and all involved can get dinged

edit: i say dinged because i have no clue what the punishment for it is

its against the SSA, a ban is minor compared to what breaking the SSA can result in. account termination, YOU being banned from the service (depending on the extent of the infraction, and that means any and all accounts you make can be terminated without warning).

and you should learn what family sharing is and how it works. you also cannot family share cyberpunk.

Not only that but you're entirely just hung out to dry on your money when that person decides you're done sharing their library.

Yes and no.

Yes, when: VAC ban applies to both accounts if the ban is applied after library being shared.

No, when: One account has the VAC ban applied before the library share.

So that means if my friend already got VAC banned and decided to "share" his library to me, and after that I am now safe playing his shared games?

Previous bans don't share after the infraction occurred and from the new Steam Familes, currently in beta...

May go up to account deletion.
