About Denuvo

While I already played a lot of PC games since the 90s, forgive me for my lack of insights about certain technical things. I'm not a tech-savvy guy.

I don't get why a lot of people hate Denuvo. We are living in 2022 and most gamer here already have decent (even powerful) PC that can handle a lot of things, so why all the hate?

If not because of performance impact, maybe Denuvo is some kind of spyware that steals personal data? Or something worse?

I seriously dont understand the complain with Denuvo. DRM has existed for over 20 years.
Even physical copies came with it. Ofc devs & publishers try to protect their work when a pirate can download 4 year work with 4 minutes. Do you like to work for free?
I remember StarForce bricking my Computer 2 times when i installed it from the disc to Win10
Havent had any problems with Denuvo though. The only thing i heard is how cracking and torrent sites were complaining how hard it is to crack. So maybe if you would contribute to the industry and wouldnt be a freeloader, companies wouldnt have a excuse to apply this crap.

Postal 3 has been removed from sale and current owners are not able to play it because the DRM servers have been taken down. Denuvo uses servers, if/when Denuvo servers are taken down games that use Denuvo will no longer be playable just like how Postal 3 is no longer playable by owners of the game.

By the way, extensive studies have shown that piracy doesn't reduce sales of games, some evidence has shown that piracy might actually increase sales of games.

This means DRM at best doesn't protect sales at all meaning it's useless, and at worse is decreasing sales of the games.

Companies like CD Projekt also prove DRM isn't needed at all.
