blocked users posting on my threads?
i blocked a couple of users because they always come on my posts and talk bs. but their posts still appear but with a blocked user button you have to click on to show their posts. thing is they still keep posting and people 'show' their posts and reply to them!

blocked should mean blocked!

That is generally how it functions on forums, since they're public places people are still able to discuss in any one given thread since the subject becomes a community subject instead of a personally controlled space.

It does.

This is the extent to which blocking assists you to avoid engaging blocked users.

Users who don’t have those same people blocked don’t have to do anything to see the posts.

It does. You don't see their replies unless you specifically want to.

But: you don't own these forums, and this is a public forum. You can't deny anyone access to Threads just because you feel like it.

If they are in good standing they can post. Secondly you do not own a thread you are merely the one who started it and by doing so invite replies.

Blocked users are still blocked. They can't post anything on your profile
This is a forum not twitter. Blocking people does not enable you to choose who posts on your topics.

Yep, as stated forums are public, you can't control who can use a public place. Now if you make a group your free to control that as its private. However you don't get to dictate how others can use the public forums or what posts they are allowed to see or respond to.

Blocking simply means no direct communication anymore. It's not a tool to prevent people from participating in threads.

Keep in mind that threads you create aren't "your" threads, they belong to the community. So the community can participate, even if you don't want them to.

There is no forum provider that offers a way for a topic starter to block someone from posting in their topics. The only way would be adding the blocking person into a group then setting the permissions for that group. This also includes private messages. You can only close it for everyone.

It's not that others are selecting to show post as others may or may not have that person blocked. It is the fact that this is a public forum. The block all commutations will not allow you to see their post unless someone who you have unblocked replies to their post on threads. I have several people blocked on here and in some other's replies I will see the post of those blocked. I don't mind scrolling right past those quoted posts and blocking them at least filters out what I deem to be clutter from showing immediately. If you don't want someone to post on your topics then you would have to post on a different platform (ie blog, facebook, etc).

The forums are public and anyone can join in. You don't necessarily own the thread you made so blocking everyone out of it isn't possible. Unless you have your own Steam group and moderate it how you see fit, you can't block people from posting on your public threads.

Best thing to do is just ignore them if they're already blocked. Giving them the reaction of knowing you still look at their comments is what they want.

they shouldnt be allowed to post on threads u make and also their messages should actually be hidden instead of showing blocked user its like discord where the blocking is pointless if it still shows their message its pretty stupid

As previously stated making a thread doesn't mean you own it. Forums are public and everyone is allowed to post on public forums. If you want to have private discussions you can make a group where you have the ability to control who is allowed in.

They have the freedom to post anywhere on the forum, you have the freedom to not listen to them.

still blocking people in general means u shouldnt see anything they post at all if u still see the stuff they post then blocking is pointless steam needs to update it where u dont even see their profile ether and they cant see ur profile when theyre blocked and same goes for messages

You don't see their post, or their profile unless you willingly click into it. The most you might see is someone else quoting them which you can easily ignore.

Also you blocking someone doesn't prevent them from seeing your messages and profile. Again, you will NEVER be able to restrict what OTHER people are able to see on a PUBLIC forum. It's really simple.

They are allowed to post and read all the content on the public forum if they wish, you can't restrict them from that.
