My session has expired>?

Not only do I need to re enter my password but also no I must open my email and enter the randomly generated digits as well. Used to be I could just launch a game any time unless I logged out of STEAM or shut down my PC. I hope this new feature is rolled back ASAP.

I had the same problem back in March, but I was using the steam guard app.

I've changed absolutely nothing, it just started happening like 4 or 5 days ago when the new login screen appeared. This is horrible and has to stop, is nobody else dealing with this?

It's not just you I'm having the EXACT SAME issue, started happening around the same time with new login.
Last night it logged me out IN THE MIDDLE of a VR session when I was playing HL 2 VR mod, and somehow, when the session expired the game was still running in the headset, but Steam launched Big Picture mode in the background and I had to take off the VR headset and go to my PC to try to log in again.

I'm in the Steam beta, going to opt out see if it makes s difference, But I'm going to do a Steam ticket if it happens again.

Note that both board categories have running threads on this particular issue; among a few that were introduced when Valve started messing with the login features in the Steam client; Steam website; as well as Steam mobile app.
The beta client and beta app are broken in various ways; and the live website got pushed the beta login experience, so it's also broken in the same ways as the client.


Public betas of course shouldn't show this flagrant level of breakage. They should be for weeding out configuration-specific rare bugs; or for gathering user feedback. But, well; Valve's gonna be Valve. As prior experiences show, this is all very par for their course, sadly.
(It's why I'll never touch their beta program; not even with a ten ... scratch that; ten thousand foot pole.)

I'm not even in the steam beta on either of my 2 accounts and the new login/session expired happened to me today. So it is NOT the beta. If it is the beta, then it's literally being forced on me as i'm not participating in either in the settings. I will literally stop using steam if I have to use my e-mail to login or I get kicked for afk

Same issue on my end that started occurring with the introduction of the stupid-ass new log-in screen UI from a few days ago that wasn´t asked for. Outrageous. Random uncalled for logging-outs after which I would have to enter both the username and the password (instead of just the password like before) in order to log back in. Having to fetch a "confirmation code" from email is the icing on the cake.

Same here. My PC is always on and with steam on. I don't want my session to expire. I don't need to write my password again, and again, and again...

I opted out of the Steam Beta and now the latest updated forced the new UI login and guess what? The same steam session has expired crap started happening again!!!!

this happened to me this morning first time it happened came on here to see if there was a solution, my pc isn't touched by anyone in the house , my wifes scared of it and my roomate has zero interest in pc gaming , so I don't want my sessions to time out or expire, that would be just freaking annoying to have to log in every so often when I don't need to

Adding the -noreactlogin parameter to the Steam shortcut seems to have fixed this for me.
