Do i need to purchase something before buying a Steam Deck?

Recently i started saving money in order to buy a Steam Deck, while searching online most sites say that the account needs to make a purchase before buying a Steam Deck, but (at least from what i've seen) it's not specified on the Steam Deck FAQ section, if i need to buy something, is there a specific amount of money i have to spend before the Steam Deck?
Also, i'm posting it here since i tried to post it on the Steam Deck page it didn't let me post it

You need to unlimit your account. You must either spend a MINIMUM of $5 in the sTeam store or add that amount to your steam wallet.

Thanks, but also, the reservation fee is 5$, that wouldn't count, right?

No, because it is not a fee, it is a deposit that is returned when you make the actual purchase.

The deposit WOULD count as its a purchase in the store - it doesnt get returned, its taken off the price at the end.

As long as $5 USD transfers between your bank and Valve on your account it counts.

Although saying that, you probably wouldnt get much out of a SteamDeck if you didnt have any games on Steam - and you're probably looking at a good few months before you'd get one. They are still working on orders back in July 2021. There's a good 11 months of orders ahead of you.

I can't now, i think i'll wait a few days to return to my home in Italy (i'm currently in france with my Dad)

Sorry if i reply again, even thought i don't have much games on steam, there's still emulation, especially since i would play Smash Ultimate Modded on my Deck since i have a Switch but it's unmodifiable

Seriously, who's bright idea was it to set the default onscreen layout to have a useless emoji menu, but no ctrl or alt keys? Especially in light of how it opens text files with Vim by default.
