Weed is illegal in my country :(
i would never tell you to break the law, never!
Learn to take pleasure in the small things, even the very, very small things. You saw a bird and it started singing. Hey, at least you have one good thing that happened that day. A breeze feels good on your face - that is so nice for just that moment.
If you have to, start keeping lists of all the good things there are about life. You like green grass, then write that down. The sky being blue is enjoyable to you. Write that down. You have a favorite chair. Write that down. You like the taste of chocolate. Write that down. Try to find something positive in everything you see, no matter how small that positive thing is. Train yourself to look for positives.
Look into other hobbies that you can try. Just do a web search on the word "hobbies" and you should get a long list of different things to consider.
Don't allow yourself to be exposed to anything sad or negative (as much as possible). Ignore that part of life until you are feeling better. This means: only watch happy and funny stuff on television and videos and movies. Stick to games that are funny and lighthearted, and not terribly realistic. People killing people - no. People killing cartoonish monsters - yes. If you think such games are beneath you, then that's part of your problem. For example: If you're sick with a virus and throw up trying to eat hamburgers and spicy food, you'd better stick to mild soup and oatmeal for a while. If you're depressed, then your psyche just can't handle the standard brain food until you are better.
Stay away from people that make you unhappy. Try to avoid even thinking about them. If they are in your own home, that's probably impossible, but try to limit your exposure to them. If they are friends or other acquaintances of yours that are saying things that make you unhappy, then don't associate with them anymore until you feel better. They might have been good people for you before, but when you are depressed you might need different people or no people for a while.
Stay away from MMO's. There are just too many toxic people on them. Just one toxic person on an MMO can make things unpleasant for a lot of people. MMO's tend to attract more than the usual number of toxic people and they tend to force people to play together with them. In real-life, you can more easily refuse to have anything to do with toxic people, but on MMO's, you are often in situations where you are stuck with them for much longer than is healthy.
Thanks
Hard to believe that somebody make so long comment just for me, ur very good person
When that happens I may give up in which case may end up ruining any interest I had in it. Then when Not depressed the memory of me not enjoying the game/show leaves me not interested in trying again and less forgiving if I do as the depression spoilt it for me.
For example I got God of War for free when I got a PS5. When I got around to playing it I was quite depressed. Gave up at some point. Tried again whil;e slightly depressed and gave up. When not depressed I tried again and that last 30 minutes before I gave up. The whole playing while depressed just ruined my interest. Shame cause it's meant to be an amazing game.....so my brother tells me
It's still best to play games that are lighthearted, and not too challenging, when you are depressed. For instance, I don't try to play Hardcore modes or the highest difficulty levels on my favorite games when I'm going through some difficult stuff in my life. I know I need some things to go well for me, so I make sure the games will go fairly well for me, even if that means playing on easy mode. I'll save the harder versions for when my personal life is better.
First of all if you've been depressed for over a year, get yourself some SSRI's for a couple months.
Note: only a couple months, this is not a crutch to be abused but a tool to focus yourself on the positive again and get out of depression.
Seoncd stop gaming all together for a couple weeks, pick up a new hobby, go outside, stay active, do some light exercise, try anything new to take off your mind.
Third: i'm not sure how old you are but it's completely normal that the older you get the less you'll be interested in playing games all day, more fun things to do
Not true.
If you are depressed it can actually heighten paranoia/mental conditions in mentally susceptible persons.
After the high you're back in the same situation. If you don't work on it and just blazing all day doesn't do ♥♥♥♥.
Ofcourse i did, i blazed for over 12 years but i grew out of it with age. i've had several experiences where i got paranoid/ more depressed because of daily weed usage during my early 20's.
In depressive periods the last thing you should do is get high to forget your problems instead of working on yourself.
It shouldn't be used as a bandaid but as an occasional recreational drug same as alchohol.
Yes it bloody well does. Going back to a game I gave up on is me going into it knowing I already abandoned it once for x reason. Thats an unconscious bias. I know its there as I've had Decades of dealings with it but that doesn't change anything. I can enjoy a decent and then try it again and still have the bias there and it gets triggered and I end up giving up, again.
Between you and me who knows ME best? ME, ME and oh err ME. Not you, You don't even know me, First letter of my first name? You have a 1 in 26 chance of guessing right. As I said. if I play or watch things while depressed and for whatever reason give up, every time I return to try again I end up giving up at the slightest dislike. may try a 3rd time and that'll be it.
So, as I said when depressed it, the depression, can ruin games and shows for ME That isn't me telling OP it will for them only warning based on my experiences.
I should have said that MAYBE the game is not ruined for you, instead of sounding so confident that it wasn't ruined for you. Of course, everyone is different, and you are right that you know yourself better than anyone else.
