Sounds like you should be doing the usual troubleshooting, check for malware, make sure Windows hasn't become corrupted etc...
So, before this "steam" update all worked fine, including F1 2021 and F1 2020 and now nothing does but it's my system that's the problem?
Also, after waiting the 6 minutes over I get to the Supercar section and the game just stops, no crash, nothing, just back to the desktop and I suppose I have to wait another 6 minutes to try again.
Sorry, but that is not a PC System issue when the only corroborating evidence is a "Steam" update.
The issue is either game related or with your PC as the game crashes and if other games are also not running that points to a PC issue.
Secondly have you done any "troubleshooting" at all after all you have not listed your PC specs so others may help you.
And finally what "anti-theft configurations" are you referring to as both Steam and Origin must be installed.
Edit to add: From the F1 2022 forum:

None of that alters the fact you have to do the troubleshooting required to fix it. Sounds like you haven't even uninstalled the game to see if it fixes things.
Prior to installation of the game:
I run VM-Workstation as I have a lot of VMs that I run.
I also have VPN services.
All of these systems functioned fine before installation - as per every normal application such as web browsers, Sonar Pro (for the Music I also make), F1 2021, F1 2020 etc. In other words, everything worked fine.
After Installation:
F1 2020 - No longer launches
F1 2021 - No longer launches
F1 2022 - Launched but crashes with no log file, it simply closes and goes back to the desktop.
Applications - Taking a minimum of 6 minutes to launch if they launch at all (not responding message).
Before f1 2022 would launch, a steam message appeared stating some steam configuration changes needed to occur for some form of anti-theft (sounds like F1 2022 related protection probably).
Troubleshooting:
1: Open services - Stop all VM related services. Stop any Sonar related services. In fact, stopped any 3rd party application related service that would not affect Windows or the F1 gaming series.
2: Tried to update the graphics drivers from within the geforce application and although it downloaded, failed to install so I manually got the drivers (after waiting forever fot browsers to open).
3: Tried to manually install latest geforce drivers - failed.
4: Uninstalled F1 2022 - Hard rebooted system.
5: Checked all running processes and removed what I could without affecting the operation of the system.
6: No log files produced as the game just stopped and dropped to the desktop. This could be driver related though, so I am not blaming the game here as such.
So, I cannot install the latest geforce drivers so cannot say if it is 100% the game.
After uninstalling the game the system seems to be getting back to normal. However, I am now unable to install the latest geforce drivers, which is what may be causing the game itself to fail but does not explain the slow system when it is installed.
I will continue troubleshooting but this post was mainly to see if someone else has the issue and if they don't, then it seems something on my system may well be causing the issue but I have no idea what.

If you have a restore point before installation you could roll back to that and see if you can install the geforce drivers.
Anyway. What a pain in the arse.
I have had to rebuild my system. I have not yet installed anything other than F1 2022 and that currently plays okay. Now I shall start installing the other applications one at a time and test F1 2022 after each install.
