Hmm well Gog is making a killing on Syndicate series for sure. Seems to me that IP's can be negotiated with. Better to earn something when conveniently offered to a customer base than get nothing from skilled silence.
Valve only takes 30% last I heard...
Thanks for reply
Gog really isn't making a killing at all, thier store even lost money last year and they recently had to lay off a chunk of their staff..... Other years they might only make a profit of 1-2 million..
Valve makes billions a year...
ok, sorry.... Was expecting a response like this. About to buy ten games later today from them anyway.
They should maybe endeavour into Amiga titles as well?
You can find the DOS counterparts to some of these classics here, like;

(Can choose between DOS and Amiga. LOTRS is there, as well as the classic Defender of the Crown.)
Valve doesn't really scout out for games and offer the owners to release it on Steam. Instead they just sort of leave the platform open to anyone who wants to publish. This means it would be up to the IP holders to take an interest in releasing on Steam, rather than the other way around. Some of these old games can get complicated as to who even owns the rights anymore, after several acquisitions occur.

wtf? how? lol!
There are millions of games in the world, steam isn't going to chase them down and try to negotiate. Developers know about steam. If they feel there is money to be made they will list them. The cold hard facts are that the work involved for some of those older games often isn't worth it.
if you really want it then contact the developers they are the only ones that can make it happen
Suggestions?
At the end of the day it is up to rthe license holders as to whether they put their games up for sale.. assuming the license holders even know they have the license.
95% of games aren't worth playing.
That leaves uhm... some serious number to play still : )
Anyway, as much insight as you fellas have given me there is still the question.
Can we please get Amiga old real classics on Steam. And, according to responses, how does one approach a publisher/developer to get it to happen?
Battle of Britain would be awesome... Gosh, that was a game and a half. I don't care about graphics... Any modern day game with physics et. al. DCS whatever, have not approached the campaign play of that game and possibly never will.
Prove me wrong at present and I will buy that Tomcat dlc ...
I mean to make them work on steam they have to emulate them anyways. I mean they aren't going to rewrite the code to work on modern machines.
There are many old game offers on Steam and I presume they have a dos box emulator included.
The price point is usually high. Fair enough if that nostalgic I suppose. As long as it works, many reviews prove contrary...
Finding a current licence holder could be like finding a needle in an haystack.
I just hope they are alive or their descendants and can maybe see this or similar threads and make passive bank...
