I also don't play GTA 5. I like FPS/RTS/and 4X games. I simply don't want to have to explain to my wife or two daughters why those nearly naked little anime girls with huge breasts are on my computer screen as they walk by :) "What the hell are you playing?!" "I'm not playing that, it's on my store page"... "Why are they on your store page if you don't play them?".. "Good question.." lol. It's just annoying as hell is all.
ok let me put it this way
here is an example of a player who wants to see First Person Shooters but doesnt want to explain to his wife and daughters why he has anima nudity showing up on his banner add..
I find that creepy as ♥♥♥♥.
what do you do in a First Person Shooter exactly?
what is also creepy is that this user doesnt even notice it. doesnt even notice the shooting part in FPS and doesnt even have any idea why someone would think that at least as offensive as a naked person
Because there is a diff. in my mind as far as shooting Zombies and looking at borderline child porn. simply let me remove all ads with the "nudity" tag. That's all. I'm not trying to keep YOU from looking at little naked anime girls.
2. as for the sex vs. violence thing, it's merely a matter of what people are more used to seeing and thus find more acceptable. both are arguably offensive and inappropriate in decent settings.
3. customization good. getting angry at stuff you don't like to see when it's a matter of taste, on the other hand, is foolish.
4. if you don't want your wife to get misconceptions, take the time to explain things to her rather than hiding things behind a curtain.
5. children under 13 shouldn't even be on the Steam store and even children older than thirteen should be supervised by their parents while browsing Steam's offerings.
and I am just saying I find that statement you just made really creepy is all.
I dont find people who find anima child porn offensive. I find people who find that offensive but murder violence to NOT be offensive creepy and I find it that people dont even notice and when its pointed out to them they have zero conception of why it might be a problem it to be even more creepy.
if it makes you feel any better I personally find anime porn to be creepy and I find violence not to be creepy. The difference is I am aware of the contradiction and am still not comfortable with it and I dont try to pull a moral higher ground because I know its a contradiction
I don't care what other peple like,. I'm not saying it shouldn't be there for them. I simply want to make my store show things I'm interested in. If I enjoy shooting people in the head then I should see that in my store. People who find that offensive should be able to "customise" it to limit "Violent" from the list of things showing up. Let everyone customise what they want. That's fait for everyone right? I'm not trying to limit what anyone else can see :)
Again, I'm not trying to remove any of this stuff for others so I don't understand your objection.
I understand that completely. I want to make clear again as I have already said once
I do not think what this poster is asking for is unreasonable or unfair. I think people should be able to have the right to filter what they want. i want to be very clear on this because I think it not getting thru. On this i do not have a problem.
I am just saying I find people (regardless of their rights) who find porn offensive but violence not to be creepy and even more creepy when they do not notice it. Creepy does not mean one should not have the right to do X,, creepy just means if well..creepy.
do you understand any better?
wait.. then we agree on this? lol. If you find me creepy for liking violence but not Anime porn then so be it. I'm creepy :)
I'm not offended! I just don't want this dumb crap in my store. I don't want my wife asking why that shows up everytime I run steam. I literally had 4 different ones at once the other day and I've never clicked on one or purchased one so I'm not sure how Steam chooses what to show in that main feed.
I find the opposite to be odd. Anyone who finds little Anime girls hot are both scary and creepy and I worry about them. But those games exist and if they want them in their store then that's fine with me.
So Steam, let's get on this shall we?
after much diberation we are getting a little bit closer but not there yet
I am not saying 'liking' I am saying (and there is a difference here) offended by.
I dont like nascar but I am not offended by it.
see the difference? so again.
I find people who do not find anime porn to be offensive but violence to not be offensive to be creepy.
These distinctions make a HUGE difference
ok. we agree then :)
we also agree on NASCAR.
There are very few things I'm actually offended by but plenty of things I don't like.
Meanwhile, though, your kids really shouldn't be looking at Steam, and your wife ought to be able to understand what's going on since she's an adult.
No need to argue about whether cartoon porn or zombie chainsaw massacres are worse.
My personal view on specifically violence vs porn is that violence is more offensive then porn.
I am not offended by either but violence is more of a concern if I was one to give a ♥♥♥♥
and to be more concerte then that even if i was a parent I would have more conversations with the family about monitoring what violence we see on TV and pretty much give them full access to any porn they wanted.
that is my personal view
The two categories are entirely different things and don't belong in the same argument. Nudity/porn/sex is a far more intimate subject and therefore can cause more offense when viewed publicly.
It is also viewed differently by men and women, so gender does play a part in this argument. I've yet to see a bunch of these games featuring mostly half-naked men running around. The other offense is the depiction of these female characters as children. So this stuff is offensive to some people on quite a number of levels.
There is no defense for having it prominantly displayed.
oh I could not disagree more! and in fact I find that view rather offensive to be honest.
killing someone is VERY intimate much more than sex ever could be
