Who now owns the rights to the original Legacy of Kain
I was wondering if anyone out there would know who now owns the rights to the original Legacy of Kain game. I remember Silicone Knights originally but who now? I want to ask them to release it on Steam. Thanks in advance.

Yeah it's kind of strange how these things happen and very unfortunate for fans of the series.

It's a symtom of the time. No one back then was thinking the game would have any market viability so many tears post release. They figured everyone wouyld be wanting and playing instakllment 26 by now. That we now exist in a time when older games are market viable has more or less created a stir and companies are looking to cash in where they can.
Also a case where the original owner decided the IP wasn't worth following up on and so let someone else have it not knowing how successful it would become. Cases like this are why you much more regularly see publishers taking a deathgrip on IPs and instead cutting loose dev teams without them.
The other problem is that this particular game had 3 publishers
I think he is referring to Blood Omen, I thought that they purchased the rights but not the original game. I might be wrong though.

Yes I am. The problem seems to be only with the original. The other 4 parts are available right here on steam.

Yup. They also try to make sure to bundle the rights to tyhe software code with the IP. As well as the game assets.

Yeah, because all the rest are done by only one company, Eidos, which Square owns, original is done by 3, it's more complicated when multiple companies are involved cause they all have a say in what happens with the game

How would one go about requesting that this game be released on steam?
Best advice...no need to be mean.

I'm not sure, i think its long since gone, i think it was only on Ps1.

Nope, it was on PC. I remember playing it. Due to the game licensing being all wonky, it's unlikely it will ever be released. That doesn't mean you can't play it still but don't expect to find it on Steam.

Not until one party basically gets tired and just outright buys the other party. But unlikely since that one game would hardly be worth that enterprise.

This is always an option I guess but I'll have to get a PS1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00002STPE/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used

All you need is a ps3 and buy a psn classic of it

Yes, it's on the PSN store, it can be played on PS3, and PSP, but I wouldn't bother getting PSP, unless you plan on soft modding PSP, but you can pick up a used super slim PS3 system, and grab the game for $5.

IMHO sooner, or later the network for PS3 may get shutdown, so I do recommend this if you want any of the digital games off PS3 get one with 1TB, or get cheap system, and buy 1TB 2.5' HDD, or SSD, and if later down the road if the network do get shutdown, then I would recommend jail breaking the PS3, since you have no choice but to rely on jail broken since you won't gain access to the service to redownload anything. As that what basically most people had to do when using DS-I, and Wii ATM, there has been talk about PSN shutting down for PSP & PS3, same with Xbox 360. This is just IMO.
