Who now owns the rights to the original Legacy of Kain
I was wondering if anyone out there would know who now owns the rights to the original Legacy of Kain game. I remember Silicone Knights originally but who now? I want to ask them to release it on Steam. Thanks in advance.

Based on this and the Kain game on Steam seems like it's been Crystal Dynamics and SquareEnix, pretty easy to Google....

Funnily it was also the best game.

How would one go about requesting that this game be released on steam?
Best advice...no need to be mean.

If it hasn;t been released on Steam by now, then it won't be, and it would probably just end up being a lousy buggy, crappy port anyway

Well there's a contact form right on their site. https://www.crystald.com/

But it also looks like the games are available on GoG, https://www.gog.com/game/legacy_of_kain_soul_reaver and that might be the best you're going to get. And you're in luck, they're all on sale for $1.49, 75% off. You can get them all for $6, huzzah.

There might just not be nearly enough demand for a Steam release or incentive for Crystal Dynamics to worry about it. They're not going to make big money on games released 15-20 years ago... and anyone who wants them bad enough can get them on GoG already so arguably as far as they're concerned there isn't an issue for them to deal with. And I expect any requests would result in a polite thank you and maybe a link to gog.com to buy them there.

I don't think it's a matter of demand but basically a matter of the licensing being split between two companies. Same sort of thing that keeps the X-Men games and Heretic 2 on lockdown. Two parties own parts of the rights and well chances are each wants to get the larger share of the split.

Well the games are available on GoG and Crystal Dynamics owns the IP and is a subsidary of SquareEnix so there doesn't seem to be an IP issue in this case....

If you are talking about the first game Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, then I think it's a bit of legal mess as to who owns the rights to it. Some threads talking about it you want more info:

You have to do some digging, and find out who owns the IP for Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain.
I would've assume Crystal Dynamics, Activision, or Silicone Knights.

As for all the other Legacy of Kain games, they're all on Steam.
