Is it possible to stream only game window to Steam Link?
When I use Steam Link app on phone or Raspberry Pi to play some games it works fine. But when I alt+tab from the game on PC, it starts streaming desktop instead of the game.

Is it possible to make Steam continue streaming only game window instead of current window?

I've used OBS to record some gameplay before, and I've seen that it can record only game window, so I can alt+tab and do whatever I want and OBS will still continue recording video and audio from the game.
Is it possible to do this with Steam Link too?

It would be really useful because I could let my brother or parents play something on Raspberry Pi in the living room and I could continue using PC normally (browse internet, watch YouTube or movies, or even play another game)

I've been looking myself and the only real options for Windows OSes seems to possibly be installing TTY software for Windows, but I've never seen anyone do it.

I have a friend that says he's done it in Linux with TTY and then he showed me. It does indeed work, but I haven't set it up myself, yet--even though I do run Linux only. The problem then is the machine is only capable of running Linux compatible games...

However... Since Steam's Proton was released, I think this will be an answer, as you will be able run Windows versions of games on Steam in Linux. So, this really means:

Linux + Steam Proton + Windows Games = Awesome!

I've even heard that Proton works better than Direct X 12 in some instances--as performance is concerned that is.

I'm going to try to get this up and running on my system and let you know how it goes. If it all works out, I'll try to post a tutorial on how I did it.

Cheers.
yea sorry im not sure
https://steamcommunity.com/groups/homestream/discussions would be the best forum to ask this on. I would try not to get your hopes up all the posts I can see in there seem to indicate it will always stream the active window unless you are using some sort of Virtual Machine software to virtualise part of your system and doing the streaming from that (which won't work with some games).

Officially it's a feature https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3629-RIAV-1617
"If your game loses focus, Steam will start streaming the desktop so that you can get back to it. This is a feature of Steam In-Home Streaming."

It is also what allows "Streaming non-Steam games in the Steam library may work but is not officially supported." to work since basically it just starts streaming the active window which can be a non-steam game as well as a steam game.

People on the IHS forum have created this scenario using virtualization.
I'd still say look at Proton for Steam on Linux and then just stick the stream on a separate TTY. I think it is the best solution. It works natively, too.
