Steam Gift Card purchase Limit
I encountered a slight inconvenience at a London Drugs store in town and it seems to be an issue at 7Eleven as well. I purchased $100 worth of Steam gift cards at London Drugs and the guy behind me wanted to buy a Steam wallet card as well but couldn't. The store said there was a $100 dollar sale limit on Steam cards per hour. 7Eleven wasn't able to sell a steam card either because the activator wouldn't activate the card. Similar issue to the guy that was behind me at London Drugs. Why is this happening? That's good money that is walking out the door because folks can't buy/activate the cards. I must ask Steam to look into this. I wanted to buy more but couldn't because I thought it was $100 dollar limit per customer, which is still an inconvenience.

Contact London Drugs corporate support or talk to their manager.

No place in the US has these restrictions.

Best Buy Canada has a $200 limit

Best Buy is NOT Valve, surprisingly enough.

As I said before, it is a retailer restriction, not a Valve restriction.

Then again, could be BC enacting further restrictions after they had to reverse the tax on gift cards after Best Buy had to take your government to court over it.

I appreciate the interest in this subject, however, I am not interested in excuses made for Valve by people who are not responsible for, or employed by valve. This "Discussion" is to draw attention to a serious problem that is affecting customers. And since there is no support topic for this in the Help section. I will leave this subject open until the issue is resolved.

those who reply to you OP are NOT MAKING EXCUSES.

the one that refuses to see REASON is you and you alone OP.

stop pushing the blame to Steam and Valve Corporation.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steam and Valve Corporation are not in charge of stores like 7 eleven, Best Buy, London Drugs store.........etc at all.

7 eleven stores are under Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd.

Best Buy is under Best Buy Co. Inc.

London Drugs Store is under London Drugs Limited

Steam and Valve Corporation have NO JURISDICTION OVER THOSE COMPANIES AT ALL.

It's 7-11 policy. Scammers use gift cards to launder money out of country. In such cases 7-11 has a hard time getting their money out of steam while the legal teams sort everything out. It often takes several months to resolve. So as a safety protocol and a deterrent to scammers they limit the sale to something manageable.

Once again, because people are inherently piles of garbage we can't have nice things.

OP needs to learn this

1) Gaming Companies has no authority and jurisdiction over Convenience Stores and the Companies in charge of the Convenience Stores

as long as he failed to see that, he will continue to argue here.

Funny, I worked at 7Eleven and the only thing we were told to watch were the pre paid credit cards, and since it's none of 7Eleven's business what people use their money for this is clearly not true.

Because policies can't change without them telling you, a FORMER employee, about it or what?

working at the 7 eleven store and working in the Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd company directly as an employee are 2 different things.

Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd. is the parent company in charge of all the 7 eleven stores worldwide

they decide the rules and regulations and policy of everything they are in charge of.

you "Simm" is just an employee of 7 eleven store.

Scammers use prepaid visa cards to launder money, yet no similar restrictions appear to exist. I rose early today, made my way to Walmart (not a place I particularly care for) and set my sights on $100 worth of steam credit. As the only denominations available were $30, and $20 USD, I grabbed two of each. Perhaps my surprise, and indignation weren't valve's fault, but the fact that I no longer think I need that complete Connan Exiles pack with all the DLC is their problem.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
