Prey question

I read during a recent Google search the other day, because I heard that the old 2006 version of Prey is no longer available, and confirmed through Reddit that the Human Head version of Prey is only available for Steam if you had a Steam key.

Well, I checked on EBay, and there are people selling CD keys for the PC version of Steam. But I just wanted to check with the Steam community. Will Steam accept Prey Steam keys, or has even that option been removed?

I can live with being scammed out of $5 for a fake CD key, but I don’t want to buy a valid key if Steam isn’t accepting them anymore.

.....if it's even a Steam key in the first place, the overwhelming likelihood is that said key has already been redeemed and you're buying something that is quite literally useless.

Everything COULD work just fine, but there's no guarantee.

My copy of Prey on steam is from a cd-key that I had with my physical copy, Prey was one of the few titles whose cd key was also valid for steam activation.

Now, a copy bought from a third party might have it's cd key in use on steam already.

Buyer beware.
