Valve listed on the list of businesses still involved in Russia
In light of the recent revelations of child rape by Russian soldiers in Ukraine, and threats of nuclear destruction of the West, as well oas the ongoing invasion of a European country, I have a real problem dealing with companies that still trade in Russia.

17 yrs on Steam and over 500 games: How do I extricate my games from the Steam platform?

Valve has complied with all sanctions, so whoever made your list is an idiot lol

Made me laugh, shows how far they have fallen.

No russian devs are getting paid and russian users cannot conduct any transactions. Valve complied pretty much the moment the sanctions dropped.

Makes you wonder where all that tuition money goes

Makes sense why they aren't publishing their sources

Tech companies don't usually have a political agenda. Perhaps the grade of F should be re-evaluated?
Still that doesn't look good and i'm a bit conflicted. But maybe thats what you wanted.
What is Valve's current political leanings, if any?

Valve still providing services to Russia Consumer Discretionary United States
But not doing business in Russia. I'm unsure how making it possible for Russians to play the games they paid for before the sanctions were put into place is somehow contributing to Putin's war machine.

I'm conflicted too, for example I love a certain Russian developer flight sim in VR, but I put survival and basic human decency, above entertainment.

Any companies political leanings are pretty much what will land them in good terms with the users, stock holders and the governments they operate in.

Rarely do their decisions reflect their actual views. So I don't think anyone truly knows.

I think it boils down to to Russian companies making money to provide taxes for Putin's atrocities, for the provision of entertainment.

Games are non-transferable. So consider your decision carefully. It is your choice to leave Steam, but even that choice will have consequences.

If you really are serious about making a statement about choosing others survival and basic human decency over your entertainment, start here and make it final:

You cannot “extricate” your licenses from your account.

You can explain your intention to delete your account (presumably?) and ask the varied developers to give you a new license. Good luck.

:deeperperiscope: Expecting Valve to deny access to products that users have already purchased due to their government’s activity seems a bit of a pipe dream (of course OMMV).

it's a situation that's evolving all too rapidly... shouldn't jump to quick conclusions here...:-)

Except as pointed out, Valve stopped paying russian devs (and ukrainian and belarusian ones and a bunch of others because they all use russian banks) the moment the sanctions hit.

Why not? These are games I've paid for. Steam is just a distribution platform.

You paid for a license. Review the SSA.
