Banned for "piracy" for a game that was barely just announced, in a Community Hub of a different game?
Is there any kind of coordination on what constitutes a 'ridiculous' ban? It's developer backlash for a stated negative opinion on a bait-and-switch Epic platform release of a future title and my statement that I would "wait until it was available elsewhere".

Each developer is free to moderate their subforum as they see fit. You want to appeal you talk to the devs.

Respond to your ban message politely, explain what you meant by your vague comment and they may reconsider—it’s their discretion, though.

Thanks for the advice.
I will probably not bother. It's been a widespread dismissal of upset on their part.

Well, if the upset is over “bait-and-switch” .... :spazdunno:
So they aren't releasing it on steam and on epic instead?

Could be wrong, but sounds like entitlement on the devs part.

I don't know the full context, but some developers aren't exactly kind to their customers

Apparently you haven't met many of the toxic and irate customers that developers often have to put up with.

How is that entitlement? Whether we agree with it or not, the devs simply made a business decision. They can sell their game wherever they like.

Gamers who demand everything be released on Steam sound far more entitled.

A companies main goal is and always has been to make a profit off of its customer base.

Just as customers are not entitled to getting something they want, companies are not entitled to get praise, support etc. People can voice their opinions as they wish (so long as it is respectful imo)

Nobody has to support a developer if they choose to use another vendor etc. Anyone can stop supporting a company for any reason, the end.

I have, but I've also met many developers who fit the bill also. Respect goes both ways.

Idk what op is fully saying or in what context that was just my guess.

just don't care and move on because steam games forums are not controlled by a valve,

basically the same stuff with Reddit mods.

just ignore them and go find a better community.

in fact, there are 500+ LVL steam accounts well-known cheaters are still protected in csgo, don't except everything are fine here

Its not entitlement except on the part of 'gamers' who think they are 'entitled' to tell gamedevs how to do their jobs because they have a steam account

I never thought expressing my hope, that they wouldn't have to pay a distributor's cut, would be so controversial.

I believe the topic starter is not telling the whole story.

If you would have written Steam instead of elsewhere it wouldn't have looked like you're donning the pirate hat.

Those who hate EGS, also tend to be huge supporters of software piracy. So he said what he meant, and the developer was smart enough to know what he meant.

Always appeal an unjustified ban!
Also game forum bans. All of it ends up on your 'permanent record' and influences future moderation decisions.
First appeal to the game forum's moderators by contacting them through the report itself. And if they refuse to be reasonable; or outright refuse to reply at all (which; yes - happens, at times) then open a ticket with Steam Support and appeal directly with Steam. They can overturn unjustified game forum bans; especially where it's proven the moderators in question are being unreasonable.

There's no "permanent record" and Steam support will never overturn a ban given by a game dev, all they say is "That hub has its own rules on top of Steam's community guidelines".
