"Oops, Looks like your browser was told to deny us microphone access!"
I have tried everything. It's happened before. I just changed the input and start mic test and it works but now it wont do it. Discord and Skype work perfectly fine. I had to use Skype to help a friend. He has the same headset Logitech G930 and he couldn't figure it out too. I do have a voice changer and it sort seems to take away permission from steam to be able to use it. First of all that is just stupid and it causes problems. I don't get why a program can steal it from others. Just causes problems, but it wasn't running at the time. I had about 15 tabs and as usual FireFox was using like 12GB of ram so I closed EVERYTHING. All I had was anti-malware/virus running, steam and Elite Dangerous. I even restarted twice. Nothing worked. The odd thing is when I use stereo mix and clicked or held the mouse it made a noise and it wasn't muted anymore but the sound still wasn't going through. I am so baffled

Solved for Me: I had the same issue and nothing worked. The Microphone access permissions page of Windows 10 settings listed my device as having permissions, but I still could not get the Steam browser chat to get past the "oops" error. Tried all posted solutions with no success.

What finally fixed it was:
1. Go to the microphone permissions page in settings [type 'Microphone Privacy Settings' in the search area of the start menu]
2. Click the Change button near the top and set "Microphone access to Off"
3. Close Steam
4. Go back to settings and Click the Change button near the top and set "Microphone access to On"
5. Start steam and create a chat

When I went to the chat window, my mic now had permissions, even though I didn't actually make any changes. I guess the solution to all Windows problems is turn it off and back on again.

I did change the mic input on my chat voice setting after the fact, but I don't think that helped or hurt, both inputs failed before and work now.

Hope this helps anyone with this issue.
