Can I post screenshots if new EU law gets through?

Did publishers on Steam all give consent that their screenshots are posted on the Steam Community or will it be illegal to post screenshots in the EU if the new copyright law is passed on June 20? Can anyone clarify?

It won't be passed on June 20. That's when it's debated at the EP Committee for Legal Affairs.

The plenary EP debate is gonna happen in september most likely - IF the committee green-lights it.

Also it's not like GDPR, that was a regulation, this would be a directive.

Also also, many of us, myself included, are bugging our EP representatives over it. Wrote to all of them, could call the ones that didn't respond.

You can still post in game screenshots in the community as you did before.

I cant realistically imagine publishers prohibiting it but it all depends i suppose how that image is used as currently anyone can source that very shot if its not barred to everyone.

If mere aspects of a game can offend certain peoples sensibilities these days enough to cause change/removal or censorship, having the means in any game to take what could be deemed inappropriate for whatever reason, could well usher in changes to how screenshots are used, stored,etc.

Nintendo has a pretty scrict fist on lets play and other videos of their products so it's not impossible. But most publishers donb't mind since any screenshot posted is essentially free advertising.
