Not received a copy of a game for myself after purchasing it as a gift for a friend
Recently, I bought Don't Starve Together for myself and a friend through a gift purchase. I made the purchase on an iPad, since I was waiting for a new computer to arrive, because my previous one broke. I know that my friend has a copy, and has no problems with it, but now when my new computer has arrived, DST is not in my library, nor is it listed as owned by my account if checking my iPad (It had been listed as owned before). I believe the reason why its not on my library on my computer is that DST does not support Steam Cloud, but that does not explain why it's not on that iPad. Steam tells me to check my gift history on my inventory and click "Add to my library", but that option doesn't appear.

Thanks!

You ordered the game from an ipad, the game does not support an ipad. MacOS has nothing to do with it. Also did you gived from a different pc from steam points of view. The change is, that you either need to wait for 2 weeks. If i remember correct. Or you got the MacOS version, and your rig if it's an windows rig, can't read those files.
Pretty sure you get the second copy in your inventory only if you purchase the game for yourself. If you bought it as as an actual steam gift for a friend then it's likely have the extra copy in their inventory, ask them to check and then gift it to you.

I can speak from firsthand experience that if a friend buys it for you, you get the gift copy as well.

wait so you're claiming if a buy my friend Chris a copy of Don't Starve Together as a gift-Steam purchase..
You are saying Chris will get Don't Starve Together, *and* the gift copy*
and then *i* will also get a gift copy of Don't Starve together?

So instead of a 2 pack the system is tricked into giving us 3 copies?

If so this should be reported as a bug and should not happen.
You should only be getting the gift copy of Don't Starve together if you buy the game *for yourself*... not buy the entire thing as a gift for someone else...

No, they are saying whoever gets the game also gets a second copy. There is no third copy given. If you buy it for yourself, you get the second copy. If you buy it as a gift for your friend, they get the second copy.
There is no third copy of the game given.

If you still haven't worked this out, have your friend check their inventory for the extra game and have them gift it back over to you.

The issue here is you gifted the entire game across. The extra game copy will appear in the inventory of the owner of the game after their first play to be able to then gift across to a friend. You could of done this by purchasing the game for yourself and then gifting away the extra copy. Now it's just backwards and your friend must be the one gifting the extra copy. If you are both friends, shouldn't be an issue to resolve at least.

Enjoy playing the game together.
