The word "team" is censored by steam.

If I use the word Team for my username, they censor it. This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen from Steam/Valve!

I'm guessing this must be some new woke, snowflake, cancel culture, dumb crap? :\
Just like the word marijuana is considered "racists" now, and was banned last week. 🤦🏻‍♂️

and words being added to the filter is not racist. they dont add words to the filter for fun, they are added for a reason. you dont need to know the reason nor does it matter if you like the reason.

The singular word "team" gets filtered in names, for reasons others have mentioned. But including it in a longer word like "teammates" is fine. Test it for yourself, if you aren't convinced.

Actually, teammate is censored too! That's how I found out earlier. I wanted to used the full word teammate, but 1st half kept getting censored.

Because there is an 's' before 'team', which if done certain ways could be interpreted as 'steam' which is what is truly not allowed in your profile name. People have used all kinds of ways to circumvent the filters, just like you have recently discovered. Don't be surprised if it, too, is placed into the filter in the future.
