Is there a way to verify the Steam launcher itself, as you can with games?
The launcher seems a bit slow to respond to discussion links and wanted a faster option than backing up my Steam games and re-installing Steam. Does it self-verify on launch, so a manual verification is unnecessary?

That is not an issue with the Steam client, but with the webhosting server.
Nothing you can do about.

I figured as much. But I still don't know how to verify the Steam client, or if it is ever necessary.

Do you mean when you open Steam? If yes, it verifies it every time you open it. Do you not see the white box with a green process bar before the login pops up?

If it self verifies every time you start it, that's what I wanted to confirm. The white box, green bar is Windows, and only happens with an update to the launcher.

It happens every time I start up Steam.
