Any way to find game name tied to a specific key

I won a steam key, but when I tried to redeem, it states I need ownership of another product first to be able to redeem this key.

So is there any way to find out what the key is for? Any way to contact steam and they would possibly know? Otherwise I'm stuck with a useless key that can't possibly be redeemed, I can't even give it away since I have no idea what main game is needed first.

How did you win the key? If possible maybe message the person/people involved and confirm what the key was for?

If the process didn't reveal even the slightest hint about it then i'd say that's intentional.

It was from Indiegala challenges, a random key to be redeemed on steam. I've redeemed 20+ keys from them so far and no problems, this is the first time I've received a key that requires a main game first. It's too bad steam didn't disclose what the name of that game was. I've messaged Indiegala and will wait to see if they would know. Otherwise that key is a complete waste.

Message them and explain. They may have given you the wrong key.

There is no "wrong" key. You win a random key, you only find out what that key is when you redeem it on steam. No problem since you're able to redeem it. But this random key requires another game to redeem and I have no idea what is needed since as far as I know, there is no way to find out what that key is for.

Yeah, that's the problem when you win a DLC key. Bad luck.

press F12 to open developer console and click the network tab then submit your key, you'll see a new row "ajaxregisterkey" from the server. If you click it, you can see the content. Expand the sections and you'll see the game info.

Dude thanks so much!! Definitely worked. Anyone else wanting to know should follow these instructions. Sticky this answer. DLC was "Hacker Evolution Duality Hardcore Package 1". I would give you an award if I had the coins. Do you want the code? I can't use it, and I'm definitely not going to be buying the game.

I would give you an award if I had the coins. Do you want the code? I can't use it, and I'm definitely not going to be buying the game.
